Fender Custom Shop Club

Does anyone have a color-over-color relic CS bass they could show?

I wish I had!!

I used to have a 1983 ‘57 Fullerton reissue, black over red. It had little red dots where the nitro finish was shrinking, which was kinda cool. Beauty of a bass, but the neck profile and nut width was just too much for my hands. So off to consignment it went.

Soooo...... I just picked this one up today and I have to say I’m completely floored. It’s 8.4 lbs, a 2017 and was played for probably about an hour total before I got it. Holy Wow! Original case and COA/strap was a bonus. The only bass I have that compares is my 7.8 lb ‘69 P - and that stays home.
I absolutely love this bass.
Custom Shop? Yes!
Postmodern? Definitely

Beautiful bass and a great backdrop shot in the last pic!

Thanks AB - love the view from here : )
BTW - does anyone know if the Custom Shop Precision pick guards are the same size/dimension as the American Standard pick guards?
Maybe a dumb question, but it always pays to ask.
Going to go B/W/B : )
Actually a very good question to ask. The most important thing to consider when replacing your pick guard is the number that screws. They come in two different sizes a 10 screw hole and a 13 screw hole. Be sure to order one that matches what you currently have on the bass if you don’t want to have to drill any new holes in to your bass.

Your bass has a 10 hole pattern. Chandler can make a custom for you if you need.

Thanks for the info - I just got an email from Chandler saying they don't have a Postmodern template.
And I'd have to send it to them like you said - not sure if I want to do that.
I see some of the Japan models are 10 hole, but not sure if I'd take that risk to find out if it's a match.
Definitely no more drill holes - may just leave it.

Another question - I'd like to leave the original Schaller strap locks on - does Schaller have different sizes or just one standard SL?
I normally use Dunlops.

From what I can tell, the only 30th Anniversary 1987/2017 Custom Shop decals on the back of the headstocks were the ones on the Lush Closet Classics - basses and guitars.
Is this correct?
I've seen photos of different color finishes on the 2017 Postmodern CS basses guitars (red/blue/etc) and the decals on the back of those headstocks are the standard CS decals.
Anyone with info?
Asking for a budding CS geek : )

That looks like fender’s standard late 50s 10 hole p pickguard. The roadworn and Vintera models use the same pickguard. I ordered a couple from WD. Just select road worn as the sub model from their drop down box. I didn’t care for the gold anodized og on my Vintera so I went with mint green.

Played a cool international corporate zoom party yesterday - a ton of fun.
This bass with TI flats is absolutely perfect - I'll have to leave it at that : )

BTW - The Vintera pickguard is not a match. Can I get a whaaa...?
If anyone wants a brand new shielded b/w/b pickguard for a Vintera P, hit me up.
Paid $60 shipped and I'd like 2/3 of that back, shipped - I’ll post in the classifieds shortly : )

Here are some beauty shots - I just love this bass. Played it all gig, sans two songs. Just a dream bass for me.
Custom Shop is definitely for real-zees!
