Yes, I did buy it new at a FCS dealer, I am the only owner and registered with Fender, got the luggage tag and all. After my dealer had no response for the first 3 months, I emailed the custom shop support directly with description from the traveler and serial#. I received a reply that indicated this was a cheap part and could be easily obtained from Stewmac, with links. To me, this means the warranty is worth 0 and I’m on my own as I have typically been with Mexican fenders. It was a functional part and perhaps I should have bought one. But it wasn’t relic’d as it’s other 3 were. I replied that while that was a feasible solution, I expected a better response for a 3K+ instrument. That it was a relic’d instrument and I wanted a matching part. 9 months later and there’s been no reply.

That was a fair and reasonable request. I would not be happy.

I placed an order a couple weeks ago for a bass. I will have to email my dealer with some of the warranty stories that I have been reading and ask what's up.

What happened to the FCS? A few years back, my new '59 CS P Bass had a minor crack-like imperfection on the side of the neck. The FCS had the bass shipped back to them and replace the neck; all at no cost to me. Something sounds wrong.

I have a thought. MusicMan/ErnieBall makes Fabulous basses. So does G&L. Either of those two would have FedEx'd the part to you in a Heartbeat. I worked at fender for 12 years.

@Rich_Briere ... my gawd! We get it. You're a disgruntled ex-Fender employee. Would you please stop throwing Fender under the bus! If you have moved on from the company, then please move onto happier comments. Some of us are very happy with our Fender instruments! It's also pretty ridiculous of you to suggest "buy from company "X" instead." Trust me, EVERY instrument manufacture has had their share of "bad customer service" or products at one time or another! This site is for the "love" of bass, and more specifically this thread is for the the love of Fender Custom Shop Basses... NOT for constantly putting down Fender or their products!

So...One quick question...... The Gears are Gold...the Screws are Gold....the Strap buttons are Gold.....all VERY Classy.... but the Control Panel is Silver and the Body is drilled out for PUP and Bridge Covers. I'm confused. Were Gold Covers sent with the Very Cool Bass? You might want to request the Gold Control Panel that should be on the bass.

The Gears are Gold...the Screws are Gold....the Strap buttons are Gold.....all VERY Classy.... but the Control Panel is Silver and the Body is drilled out for PUP and Bridge Covers. I'm confused. Were Gold Covers sent with the Very Cool Bass? You might want to request the Gold Control Panel that should be on the bass.

Were Gold Covers sent with the Very Cool Bass? You might want to request the Gold Control Panel that should be on the bass.

It’s a trick of the light. Everything, reverse tunas, strap lock nubs, screws, are nickel finish.

Also, the body color doesn’t translate well in the photo because of that glorious Italian golden sunlight pouring through the window. It looks almost like LPB in the photo, but it’s darker and greener up close. A strange color.

The first thing I did when I opened the case, was to remove the ashtrays and thumb rest, the main obstacles to my loving caresses. Then the straplocks, I always do that…and yeah, I shoved Elmers and toothpicks in them holes. I don’t care about no stinkin’ warranty. A few days later, with the help of my trusty Weller, I got the offending grounding strap off. The ground wire route was already drilled from the bridge to the control cavity, just like you’d expect on any respectable Japanese JB62.

Hope that clears up all the confusion! Sorry for the crap photography.

So that I'm less confused...... LOLOL..... You ordered a $3,000 bass form the Custom Shop....and then you "Customized" it. LOLOL

That’s a good one! I guess the only part I changed was the straplocks.
The grounding strap, I mean, who didn’t do that way back when? Along with throwing out all the scrap metal.
It’s not like I’m putting Fralins in it and slapping a Badass on it.

I love the look of the covers, but I can’t play it with them on there. They sit right on the spots where I like to play.

Call them off! I know I could sell this sweet baggie for a couple bills, and I would even throw in 500 bucks worth of fake viagra. Instead, I buried it out in the yard, next to a pot of fermenting kimchee.
