Fender Custom Shop Club

Anyone taken delivery on a custom order recently? I placed a team build order last April/May through Make ‘N Music. But I’m pretty much being told it’ll be done when it’s done and they can’t give me an update beyond that.

Curious what they have been running recently. Thanks.
When I ordered mine back in 2008 it took like six months, but since the pandemic I've seen TB'ers post about waiting twice that long. I suspect you're looking at a few months still.

I recently waited 2 years. I’m hearing that’s the new normal for the CS.
Hard but worth the wait, for me anyway.

what did you spec?

‘69 Precision with added Jazz pup
Bullet truss rod
Jazz neck profile
3Tone Burst in Journeyman relic

Nice specs. Mine is similar to your order.
Good luck with the wait!

Really wish they would do a "vintage custom" 60 jazz.
"Fender Custom Shop Vintage Custom series instruments represent early, almost prototypical, transitional and “first rev” versions of classic Fender models before they were refined into their present-day form. Featuring a few subtle modifications for enhanced playability and tone, some models incorporate prototypical features that barely saw the light of day while others have rarely seen transitional parts combinations that may have been used during the instrument's development.

All of the Vintage Custom models feature our “Time Capsule” aging package. Combining our original “No Buff” NOS Flash Coat Lacquer finish with Closet Classic hardware, the Time Capsule package grants these instruments the charming appearance, authentic sound and genuine mojo of an extremely lucky vintage find."

A 60 jazz would fit the bill.

Spill the details! What makes it a hybrid master/team build? Whatcha gone for?

Well, it's a bit of an anomaly on how it all came together. I basically ordered a Precision bass with a Jazz neck with some specific appointments (especially with the neck) and Fender quoted it as a "Teambuilt" bass. After I reviewed, confirmed, and placed the order with a deposit down, Fender came back and said that certain things I asked for (specifically with the neck) pushed the build into the Masterbuilt territory. They said they were going to honor their initial quote and that it was their mistake, but that Dennis Galuzska was now going to be participating in the build of my bass and will be contacting me. He will not be building the entire thing, but more-so doing the neck work for my bass.....thus making it a hybrid Teambuilt/Masterbuilt bass. :)

Left it to acclimatise yesterday as it was freezing out the case, spend the whole weekend in a DPD warehouse.

Got it out briefly this morning before starting work and it plays like a dream! I did go to try it a while back but didnt buy it on the day. 1960 ltd edition relic in OW.

Maybe this has been covered but didn’t find on my quick search.
Other than tortoise, any recommendations on where to get a good legit reliced pickguard?
I found a place in the UK but I am sure there has to be a good place in the US.

Spitfire is the best in my opinion.

Personally I am not a fan of Spitfire guards...Just my opinion!
