I ordered a hybrid Teambuilt/Masterbuilt CS Precision in July of 2021 and have yet to take delivery on it.

Did you pay a premium for that?

Left it to acclimatise yesterday as it was freezing out the case, spend the whole weekend in a DPD warehouse.



Got it out briefly this morning before starting work and it plays like a dream! I did go to try it a while back but didnt buy it on the day. 1960 ltd edition relic in OW.

What a stunner...I am very envious!

Personally I am not a fan of Spitfire guards...Just my opinion!

Never used them but they are a bit expensive, specially if you want a reliced one

Oh man…… that fiesta red 63 jazz is gas inducing. Might just refinish my 65 P in dakota red because of how good this jazz looks. When my 66 fcs P comes in I’ll have twins lol.

Okay CS guru’s, I need a tad of assistance. Searched a bit and really couldn’t find the answer. I’m looking to sell my Dingwall Super P/J and probably my AVRI 63 P and purchase a CS Jazz. The reaming $$ will go to my wife for dealing with all my purchases over the years.

I’m looking at the 60’s relic type and confused over the years and stacked knobs vs. VVT. Seems both options are available on 60, 61, 62 and 64 CS Jazzes. I’ve listened to a lot of demos on YT and really don’t have a preference. Just curious.

As for the 60-64 years, seems most options are identical; fretboard, U shape neck, QS maple, frets, alder body, etc. Relicing varies of course. If stacked tone knobs were replaced by VVT in ~AUG of 61, why would they be included on a 64 CS? Perhaps the dealer ordered the bass that way? If, there are a lot of folks doing it based on what I see on Reverb…..

Yes, the CS will combine any features you ask for regardless of whether they are accurate or faithful to the original. So I’m betting the dealer you are looking at ordered them that way. I’ve seen plenty of P basses too that are identified by model year yet have components from other years. The model year is just a reference sometimes.

Thanks gents. Just crazy how the 60, 61, 62, 63, or 64 listed on Reverb between $3500 - $4500 vary within the same year. If that makes sense...... I guess I'm used to production types that the only difference within the same year is the color and maybe the FB material.

I'm guessing supply chain complications and materials costs have contributed to that increase. Are you looking to build something custom or looking for something already built?

Plenty of mint used examples here and on Reverb. Give the 1,500 you save to your wife and score some brownie points!

I’ve purchased five CS basses, two new and three used. The new ones were near the end of their run and I was able to pick them up for lower than street. The three used were also significantly lower than street.

Good question, and one I don’t have an answer to. Previously I would have said that there is not enough difference in FCS prices and that of real 70’s basses.

Because you can get an original 70s jazz cheaper than a custom shop.
