Matte black is the only possible improvement I can imagine. Looks really sharp as-is!

Fender dark night precision with a tort pick guard!

Black Pearl maybe? This is on a Satin Lake Placid Blue. It also has a wider 35 degree bevel. Going on the Dark Night I think I would stick with a shallower 15 degree bevel.
The looks aside, I find this to be a solid pbass...and so glad I moved on it

Agreed with others, stick with black pickguard.
Notice how the white trim around pickguard picks up beautifully the white fret dots and ties it all together.
My opinion is solid color pickguards look better on solid color Instruments while tort looks best on sunbursts.

Back in the 90's they called it blue pearl burst. I wanted a Jazz Plus in that flavor but it was going to take 6 to 12 weeks to get one so I picked one of the three natural ash Pluses they had in stock at Rhythm City in ATL and never looked back. As blue paint jobs go it's still an eye burner though.
I like the cut of your jib. I was giving the thought of one of these (actually a Jazz in Dark Night) and going with a red tort guard. I feel that the clash of the two red and blue would look nice and wouldn't be overpowering since there is a lot of black in between the two colors.

I remember they had a code for pricing. TUXEDOMARK. And when every kid in town figured it out he changed to PINKFLOWER. so if your box said TKK you knew the store had to make $100 so you could negotiate. I bought there all the time. Derek St Holmes used to work there.

I drove over from Birmingham when I couldn’t find what I wanted local because they had everything under the sun in that place. i never knew any of the employees. I was there one saturday when NIN strolled in to look around. They were in town for a show and i guess were happy to be someplace besides their bus.
I don’t want to the be the first to say it, but tort kicks #ss with lake placid blue.
You may be the 1st in the world to put tort on that bass. Please be sure to post pictures if you do.
