Fender dark night precision with a tort pick guard!

I love tort (good tort) on almost anything), but here, tort is like cilantro - some love it, others abhor it on anything. Go for what pleases your own eyes.
A tort guard will confuse things visually, a black one highlights the cool paint job you have.
I liked the idea of making it satin - I've done that with satins pray poly before (that's really easy to do) - that'd take the gloss down to where the paint behind it stands out even more, and you won't blind people in the audience with the pickguard's reflection.

Love the color. I bet with stage lights and moving around it would look like a chameleon changing colors.
That thing looks like it would be nice with a pickguard that matches the color of the headstock.... why isn't that a thing already.
Black Night is my favorite color in the Pro II series. If I had that bass I'd put a Black Abalone pickguard on it. This particular one is for the Tony Franklin Sig Bass but I'm sure you could find one for the Pro II. The blue sparkles in this pearl would really pop and compliment your bass color.
First of all congrats on an amazing bass. Did a double-take on that finish, nice! Tort would look nice, so does the black and so would an antique crushed pearl which I've seen on blue pbasses before.
Probably better to swap out the pickup and add an active pickup, including routing go a J near the bridge.

If you're curious about a tort guard, I think the only way you'll really be satisfied is if you try it yourself. Throw the guard on, live with it for a month, and you'll know then if it's right for you or not.
Ignore the naysayers telling you not to do it - it won't cost you much if you buy a cheap guard, it's easily reversible, and you're not going to damage anything. Even with an expensive one, you won't lose much - tort P bass pickguard? You could move it on here without breaking a sweat.
Gorgeous finish! I'm loving that and the Mercury in this range. I'm glad I'm starting to prefer short scales, I definitely don't need the temptation to drop that sort of money on a bass right now!
