Fender dark night precision with a tort pick guard!

Back in the 90's they called it blue pearl burst.

Yes! I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area at that time and bought a Fender American Precision Bass Plus in that finish (PJ configuration, Schaller bridge with fine-tuning, Schaller M4S tuners)—nice bass.

I was like “man, I love to procreate too!!!”Then I realized it’s the name of the iPad program

the new iPads are evil, would love to have one but I got the bass she got the iPad!

edit: I also agree looks great as-is, I’m the first to upgrade/swap out a pickguard to make a bass/instrument mine, but on the dark knight it just looks too good as is...

This bass has a cool novelty finish. THAT is it’s key visual feature, and why Fender paired it with a guard that compliments rather than competes.
With that finish, a random-pattern guard like tort is like wearing polka dots with plaid.
I mean, maybe someone would like that, but there’s no way it actually looks good.

I have a 20 year old black P with a tort if that helps. Just keep in mind, there are a wide variety of tort patterns and color you can chose from. Some are more appealing than others
