Fender decals on not-really-Fender basses

Most people (same survey) are visually oriented.
You know darned well there are thousands who if they heard the same bass with a Squier decal, and heard the same bass with a Fender decal, would say that the Fender sounded better.

Yeah, I just went back and read the comment I wrote and your right, I was definitely wrong and wrote it completely wrong.
I didn't just poorly write it, I completely fudged the information up all together.
I wish I had gone back to read what I wrote from the start, but was convinced that I wrote it differently and stubbornly decided I had nothing prove, I'll admit that.

So, my apologies, you were definitely 100% correct, well you didn't really share an opposing view, or add any useful information, so you were right about me not being right, if that makes sense.

However,
I'm sorry but get real with this nonsense about information, and your acting as if your objective was in any way to make sure other people were not misinformed, when they read it. Your goal was to prove me wrong.
Nothing more nothing less.
If we're gonna be real here, be real.
And yes that's what you've been hung up on since last night almost incessantly.
You've provided nothing useful in regards to information since your mission to prove me wrong started.

And I'm sorry, but if making sure people coming here for information got only 100% factual information, one would be inclined to think you'd offer some, even a little.
My very first response to you right from the start was NOT that I couldn't be bothered.
It was that I wasn't going to go on some wild goose chase because you pop up and make a claim with absolutely NOTHING informative to back it up.
I then asked you if you had information to show
I was wrong & to please feel free and share it.
You chose not to.
This would have been where you could have easily avoided any further carrying on between us by just explaining yourself, and providing some facts for those readers you claim to be so concerned about. But you didn't, you continued to just worry about making sure I knew I was wrong, but I don't buy your intent was for anyone's satisfaction but your own.

So again, my apologies to you for arguing I was definitely wrong, no doubt about it. And my apologies to the community for providing incorrect information.

This all in regards to how & why Fender purchased Squier.
This doesn't change the point from that original comment that Fender is Squier & Squier is Fender.

Not everyone is a gearhead and as savvy about serial numbers as you assume they are.

I don't think the Squier's are better than most high end basses, or even MIM'S. I'm not pretending it's now as good as an American 5. I'm not that guy. My good stuff sounds waaay better. I do know that they are gigable, and are a good choice when one considers the possibility of theft, damage etc. I read that some do this for alot of reasons. I have much better basses I use for gigging. I once used the Squier for back up, but kept it backwards on the stand so no one could see the headstock.
Got a prob with that? I don't care. Am I insecure, not wanting to be judged as not being able to afford better gear when I can? Maybe. But I don't care. I like the looks of it. It still has the Squier neck plate etc. My family knows it's a Squier, not a Fender branded Jazz. Guess what? Now I'll gig it regularly, keeping my nicer stuff nice. To top it off, the back of the headstock now says Made in USA and there's a bogus serial #. Wrong prefix and all...It's still a Squier, and any bonehead that's played bass for more than 2 weeks can look at the numerous small features of the bass and know something's not right. Anyway, the project gave me something to do as I mend from a mishap and can't play. I'm a bad boy, but thought some might enjoy the pics.

A whole lot of excuses for making a counterfeit bass. And most people who are two weeks into playing the bass are not experts on fake "Made In The USA" Fenders, by the way.

To the OP: putting a fake Fender logo on a bass is always lame 100% of the time.

Well I guess it's not counterfit unless someone owns it and they think.....it's real. Or it's passed off that way.
It's even less than a white lie. If anyone ever asked me about it (how good it sounds etc.), I'd probably offer up that it's a Squier. The neck plate says so.

Putting a fake serial number on the bass is the icing on the cake. That is the lamest thing in the history of bass playing.

All I can say is, again, I bought a Squier with a Fender decal on the headstock. I think it's hilarious, actually, because it wasn't even put on very well. I knew what I was buying, the seller didn't make any pretenses that it was anything other than what it actually was, so I had, and have, no issues whatsoever with it.

Y'all need to just relax, your outrage would be far better applied to other things.

All I can say is, If you are a Bass player and you dont know what you are buying... You dont deserve the Bass player title. We know the instrument basics, we should know the characteristics and little bits of the bass we want... We should know if a bass is real or fake just for the looks, just for the little details. Damn, thats the reason we are in this forum!

Now, its dangerous to buy online because we should trust in some pictures that could be as fake as the bass they are selling... Always try before buying anything... And if after trying you are too fool to buy fake, you are the fool not the seller.
