Fender Deluxe Active Okoume - PJ vs J

I want one of these but I'm torn on which one. I love PJ's and I really like J's, but I've never had an active version of either. Both have a single volume, a blend pot, and cut and boost treble/mid/bass.

Do active electronics generally compliment a JJ configuration more than a PJ? Or vice versa?

I am and probably will always be a James Jamerson Disciple and therefore
must choose the Pj
but I cannot lie
the Jazz is sweet.

oh you got the Jazz or the pj?

I can only tell by what I heard on the youtube video
but they sound like boutique basses.

with a very very warm tone.
that just screams i sound and look like I cost a ton of money

Thats a good question
most good active basses have a way for them to be played passively.

But I dont know for sure.

maybe try fender product support or download the manual for this bass.

Active only. I'll see about having an active/passive switch installed once I have the bass. Primarily cuz it'll be my only bass and there's no need to waste batteries for home practice. My job's stockroom has every kind of batter but 9 volt for me to appropriate.

Trying to have an active/passive switch put into my new PJ bass which is basically the alder version of this bass. The tech tried to figure out how hed do it and he seemed to be having a hard time. Still haven't heard back from him so idk for sure how easy that is to do with the existing electronics inside.

This one has the control cavity in the back so I'm guessing maybe my guy can put in a push/pull volume knob for passive. I have no idea really. I'd prefer an actual switch but it's probably more work to drill a hole in the bass.

I asked him to try a push pull/pot and he still seemed to have a hard time figuring it out in his head, ill see what he says after hes had time to look at it.

try calling 30th street guitars in nyc
they sell used guitars and matt the owner cusomizes builds repairs etc

Matt is a wizard if it can be done he will know how to do it.

he may be able to tell your tech how to do it


or just ship it to matt and let him trick it out

he cusomized a pick up for me and he has been my go to guy ever since

I'm trying to find a PJ 5er, but I've also checked out the 4 bangers at Fender, that is when I came across these.

I think these are pretty decent have fun with it.
