Fender Drops prices on Am. Std. again this week.

If only this was across the board price drops on Fenders. Their prices even on the MIM stuff are just ridiculous right now. I bought my last Fender about 2 weeks before the price increase.

Question...where are you guys seeing the thing about the price drop?

I've yet to see it on any web site. But with my own eyes at the store. Not on just one Am Std bass that may have been damaged or something, but on every Am. Std. jazz and P they had. And I've seen this at more than one GC location. I was looking for a sunburst/rosewood P, but every one they had was dinged up. And one had a funky neck bow and fret buzz even with saddles set a mile high. So I'm still scurrying to find the right one and take advantage of the price before it changes...again!

I was told Saturday that they also had a 10% off for just that day only. But was told today they could continue to honor that extra 10% still. And that's not even including the $100 rebate. I wonder if this extra 10% has to do with the whole 45th anniverssity coupon ? Thing is if you read the fine print on the 10% off coupon it says it excludes Fender...and also just about everything else they sell. So I don't know where they're getting the extra 10% from??
But they said it at more than one location. Again this is above and beyond the tag price of $1094. for P's and $1149 for jazzes.

Got a link to the price drop? I picked up a Jazz at AMS and they'll price match for another couple of weeks.

Have yet to see it online. Just at the store. sorry.

there not even worth 500$ they have a reular ole MIM neck..............now the new hoppus basses? thats a different story

Got my hoppus for $150 only a scratch on the headstock.

I just bought a new American Standard P5 (Olympic White/Tort/RW) on Saturday. So there!

I needed a 5 String P, and Lakland wouldn't make me one for less than $3,000, so I got the Fender instead...

Is it bad that my favorite thing about the bass is the case it came in?

FYI -- I got an email from The Perfect Bass saying they're having a 10% off Fender sale today only. They're applying it to all Fenders.

Yup, in addition to the $100 rebate. If I wanted a new MIA Fender, I'd be buying one from them today (though used is still a better deal, of course). Actually, if TPB had the Squier CV '50s Precision in stock, I'd be buying that.

I remember when I was a young (er) lad sitting on those nasty cushy benches at GC playing the Geddy Lee and thinking how I would totally spend $850 on it.

Now I just walk in, see the $1200 tag, and walk out.

Pretty standard business practice. Raise prices then once people get acclimated to the new price you can drop them and people are amazed at the saving, even though the price is still higher than before. Or usually is.

Why not, it's worked for gasoline.

That's cool. When I picked mine up, AMS was having a 10% off sale. That with the $100 rebate and I'm not complaining.
