Fender FSR Club

If anyone is looking to pick up the FSR seafoam pearl P/J bass, GC is currently selling them at a clearance price of $669. Another tb'er first posted on this in another thread a little while back, but the online price still shows $899. I confirmed the sale price in person at my local GC in Albany NY. It seems like it's an in-store price only. I don't know if the sale also extends to the black/tort model. Peace!

Well guys. Looks like I'm keeping my #1 FSR Club status. Decided to keep my bass. Just didn't have the heart to sell it.

Guess my PM had the desired effect! :smug:

Guys, I mentioned to pica that I had gotten sort of jaded with my natural ash jazz as well. Just not loving the tone and finding that it had a bit too much fight in it. So I took the flats off, put on some nickels, set it up with lowish action and... :bassist: ..,pretty much a new bass! And still a looker.

pica, glad you're still an FSR owner. :) These babies are more bass than money. That is to say, the < $400 a buyer might be willing to pay (maybe $300-350 net to the seller) doesn't begin to approach the value of this bass. That is becoming more generally true of all recent MIM Fenders...more bass than money. JMHO of course.

sorry if this has already been asked but...

what has happened to fender's FSR basses? their website had loads of them on there a few years back, but now there's none.

i wish i had the funds for the green-ish (active) precision they had going at the time, that thing was a beauty. maybe we'll meet again in the future.

Very true. GC is now selling these for $599 but I'm almost certain mine was $499 so they could be raising prices due to less supply. But your right, the money I would have gotten selling it would not compare to the value of the bass.

Just picked this beauty up earlier this week. After talking to a rep at Fender I found out it is an FSR model.

Good thing I got mine a couple of months ago. I paid $499 also. Mine didn't come with a gig bag though, even though the website says that it does.

Me want!! I have this thing about wanting to find a P to go with every J...or vice versa...

Those FSR natural ash Precisions are rare beasts. I nearly had a deal on one a few months back, but couldn't work out the transport across the continent. The MIA versions circa 1999-2001 are also cool (though not FSR). What's that puppy weigh? How does it sound? Inquiring minds!!

Okay folks, somehow the numbers past 42 got messed up. So here is a new and complete list of all members so far.....

Not sure what it weigh's but probably about the same as my J bass. It plays very nice and is now my new favorite. I have wanted a P since I started playing again a couple months ago. I need to get my guy to set it up for me and I am going to put a set of flats on it. Once that is done I am going to play the heck out of it.

Strings first, setup second! :) Otherwise the neck relief and intonation may not come out right.

You might consider learning to do your own setups. Saves a lotta dough. Many threads on this. You need a capo, tuner, automotive feeler gauge, finely calibrated ruler, hex keys and a screwdriver. (Nut files for the occasional bass that needs the string heights adjusted at the headstock end. They're pricey.) The John Carruthers YouTube vids will get you going.

Nice bass, congrats.

I have all of that stuff and can set it up myself if need be. I always put the new strings on first. I guess the way I worded it was not clear.I have a guy that does it for me at a very good rate. A big plus is he always has several sets of strings on hand and gives me very good deals on them. He also gives me lots of pointers on playing and such. The only problem is we get to talking so sometimes it takes a few hours.
