Does anyone know if the Fullerton reissue bass cases were the same size for both the Jazz and precision basses? My 62 reissue Jazz seems to fit, but it's a bit snug.

The Precision tweed case was narrower ,both had separate product codes and could be ordered as an accessory.The Jazz version was also slightly more expensive . Hope this info helps.

Found some more Fullerton case candy including '62 ,'57 P Bass, '62 Jazz Bass parts sheets which were supplied with these wonderful reissues. This period in Fenders history certainly gives the impression that both attention to detail and quality control were on the up.

Got an more accurate scale, I have to correct myself:
All my 3 Fullerton Precisions are 8.3lbs, my '66 CBS is 8.5lbs.

My Fullerton P is exactly the same weight as my '61 P, 8.5lbs. The neck profile and contours are similar, too.

My solid black AVRI 83 J weighs 8.5. It was first sprayed fiesta red then black at the factory. Paints chips and the neck pocket revealed an over spray of the black, and likely cause was to hide a flaw in the fiesta red finish.

I had both, The Jazz case is about 2 inches longer than the P case.

They appear to have the same gearing as the Fullerton reissues. For comparison here are a couple of photos showing my 1983 '62 Vintage Reissue Jazz headstock .

Thanks sir I appreciate it, it's been a few years since I've had a Fullerton. They are also indentical to the tuners on my JV p bass I have. Well if anyone needs correct tuners it would be cool to get these back on the right bass, since they are on a parts bass I wouldn't mind selling

This P has been offered me at a decent price. Seller informs me it's a 62 reissue from 82 (neck and pots). Cosmetically it has a bit of wear – it has been stored for some time and apparently not in a friendly environment.

The cracking on the body does look more like a poly than a nitro finish, I think. And there are no holes for bridge cover.

Can anyone help shed some light over this. Fullerton bass or not?

Most Fullerton owners wouldn't part with theirs, you'll have to widen your search!

They do show up, but go for pretty big money as added to an original Fullerton RI that is missing one will increase its value by more than the cost of the PG.

The decal is in the wrong place for a Fullerton reissue. Should look like this:

They were on early corona too - not worth as much

Also, there should be (factory located) pilot holes at least where the bridge cover would screw down. This is not a Fullerton era bass. OP, what is the serial number?

The very early Fullerton basses (June to September '82 or so) had some inconsistencies. Plastic wiring, incorrect fret wire size, goopy nitro finish on a three or even four piece body. Mine frets out a little on the A string on the 18th & 19th frets, but I never venture up there anyway.
That being said, they can be great players, sound authentic and are usually very light-weight. The finish has aged beautifully, but the body still doesn't seem entirely dry, especially on humid days.

Might be Corona body w/ Fullerton neck - a lot can happen in 35 years.
