Looks okay so far. No case candy.
Can't remember seeing a date stamp at neck (at the body often).
99% they had the date handwritten.
No doubt a Fullerton. Too pricey.

Mine is a sept 93 as well, in burst. Looks basically exactly like that one for sale, and it's awesome! That said, $3,500? That's absurd! Glad I paid only $400 for mine, used in 87.
Interesting to note though, my date is in pencil on the butt of the neck.
After reading this entire thread over the last few days, it seems that most 83 '62 RI jazzes had the pencil date.
Is it jst me or are these 62 Jazz RIs becoming scarce in good shape? Anyone aware of production numbers on the reissues?

I bought both of mine from reputable TB'ers. They are absolutely spectacular!
I took them to Mike Lull and he did his magic - now they just kill. I've played some Pre CBS Fenders that pale in comparison. The action on both of these is stupid low with no buzz. These Fullerton RI's are no joke. If they have been babied and come with the OHSC, good chance they're winners.

I was a bit skeptical until I played one. In my humble and completely unscientific opinion, I think the late 82’s / 83’s are the ones.
Yeah seems high for a sunburst. The Jazz basses usually are higher than the P's but that seems crazy. They probally ask more overseas because they are a bit more scarce. Ive seen that seller on ebay and reverb before and all their stuff is like that.
It's not very common, but there were some that left the Fullerton factory with stamped necks.
I have a sienna burst 83 Fullerton J and a 62 J RI from the same year. The neck profiles are really similar, but you can tell there was a lot of extra Love that went into the RI’s. It’s so much easier to play and the pickups are special. I do find it really interesting that the neck profiles are so similar to each other though. And they are really different from the U shaped J’s too. The feel like their own thing.

2018 Vintage Guitar Mag says Fullerton RI (62J, 62P, 57P) can be from $2500 to $3400 - that's all original in good or better shape, with OHSC.
Collectors usually want case candy, while players want a great bass.
My experience is an original case usually means a well taken care of bass - usually with fewer owners.

I have a '57P RI that completely kills, and that I'm not playing much at the moment - the neck is one piece and freakin massive with TI Flats and stooopid low action.
But it's definitely not a 62 J RI : )
