Ok, I need help from the Fullerton Jazz experts.

Over 20 years ago I replaced my white pickguard with an Allparts tort. IIRC I had to trim the guard a bit in the neck pocket area. I believe the screw holes to be correct tho.


I think I also tried my black '79 guard on it which fit perfectly, as well as having the screw holes in the correct positions.




Recently I found a Fender '62 Reissue guard that I liked but it did not fit at all and the screw holes were not all in the proper place.




So my question is, if I wanted to replace the guard I have, do I just need a standard Jazz bass pckguard? Would Fender's current non-62RI guard be the right fit?


If I was to order a Spitfire, would I just specify a standard Jazz guard?

What is shown in the photos seems to support it being a Fullerton era reissue however for me there are not enough photos to say for sure.

Ok thank you. Will try to get more pictures. The last three ones below are of lower quality and too much yellowish, not reflecting the true colors. Btw what could be a fair price for one of these rare birds today (including OHSC) ?

Contours, knobs, pickguard looks correct so far.
Does it have the "round" slab board:

Yes. One indicator.
The "important" features are missing in your pictures. Try to get some more.

So I’ve just received new pics. It seems the slab board is more « straight » than « round » (?) Serial # is V012170. Neck reads 04/25/1984. Pro seller with very good reputation. Thank you for your opinion.

The pots date to 82 and 83, the neck dates to 84. The fretboard doesn't curve a lot but I see some. Everything looks pretty correct. I would ask for photos of the case to verify that it is authentic as well. My only comment is that it appears to have been refinished.

V012170 is Fullerton Era.
Only owned 82-83.
I had never an 1984 in my hands.
Very slight curve, like Johnny mentioned.
But looks legit:

Seller says it’s a collector grade one with no refin. Here’s a picture of the case. The manual is obviously not the good one.

Looks like a nice example to me. Of course color (especially Fiesta Red) is hard to reproduce photographically, but it strikes me as correct. Enjoy!

Just picked up my 4th 57 Reissue. Supposed to be a '96 but it's really an '88. No body or neck dates but I can spot them .
The kid I bought it from got it from a "respectable and trusted" well known dealer in Chicago. Like that matters.
Although he sold it to me with the craziest mash-up pickup I've ever seen, he promised he would make it right but I doubt it.
Anyhoo…..popped the neck and found a familiar name and face.
The smiley stamp. I've seen it before and now I got another one plus my first Herbie. Those little things make the bogus pickup and the correct year worth it.

On the photo on the left see how there is a visible bump to the left of the neckplate that isn't there on the 89 model? That is one sign.
