I had the following duscussion with Mrs. Lug one day..

Mrs. Lug: Why do you need another bass? You can only play one at a time anyway!

Lug: You birthday is next week, correct?

Mrs. Lug: Yes.

Lug: I was going to get you a new diamond solitaire necklace even though you already have a nice diamond necklace but I've just noticed you only have one neck!

Mrs. Lug: I see your point now.

I know this might not be the best thread, but does anyone know where one could order the metal control plates that are on the Jag?

I can find the guitar ones online, but I can't find the replacement bass ones.

Any ideas, folks? It'd be really appreciated.

There were tons of them.

Basically the two problems were that the shielding did not have continuity and the battery pressure contact (no clip, dumb) was frequently semi-isolated.

Both trivial fixes. They cleared up the vast bulk of the noise in mine, though I still think the electronics are substandard, excessive and would have just as well been eliminated. :spit:

Okay. I guess I'll have to hunt those threads down and confer with my tech. I'm murder with a soldering iron.

I cheered when I saw Fender brought back the Jaguar bass, then boo'ed when I saw the lack of Hot Rod Red with the matching headstock. That said, I really want the blue one.
Although I can't help but wonder if they've done the internals better this time around.

Shielding the Jag is really easy. I used aluminum foil and it works just fine like the copper foil. You'll just have to make sure that all the control cavities are grounded as one by putting some shielding tape on the pickguard.

That's just what I did and now my Jag is dead quiet and I can now use the active mode without any problems. No more hum zero to minimal noise with the tone knob in full.

I also installed a treble bleed to maximize my volume control!

The problem with my old Fender Jaguar was the pickups/electronics were very noisy and lackluster in sound.
The built in preamp to me is not really that good compared to what is available aftermarket. I understand there are remedies for the Jaguar issues but to me
if a bass needs a bunch of mods/work to make it sound good and playable I'll find a different bass that plays and sounds great to begin with.

Meanwhile, I couldn't let go of it because it is a GREAT player and looks cool.

I also notice they are no longer matching headstocks (I think the first run had it on red and black, but not the white ones).

EC- There's something we do agree on!

FWIW I did only the preamp cavity shielding it it fixed everything with the noise. You need to have nimble fingers to get the copper foil looped into each section, I wound up using tweezers because i have little sausage fingers. ;)
