Fender Jazz

This is my first thread since I came onto TB and I've been loving the community. I'm getting into the school band this year and we're going to a nation-wide school band competition a week full of music, lessons, performances. So I've decided to get a classic, a Fender Jazz both for the competition and other band purposes. Not any however this one is avtive and I'm digging the price of it, heres the link

Fender Delux Active jazz. I've got a few questions, why si this so cheap when it's American? Cheaper then the standard American jazz. Also if you've had any experiences with this bass could you please tell me the pros and the cons? I'm a big fan of this bass I'm just looking for a little input.

Thanks alot,

Terry

It's a good bass for the money. The MIA deluxe is a better product but it's about $600.00 more. I played one of those MIM Deluxe models for a couple days about a month ago and was impressed with it. It had nothing done to it other than a good set up and some DR Low Riders but everything else was stock. Played and sounded great through an Ampeg SVT 4 head and SVT410E Cabinet.

If you really want an active in that $600.00 to $700.00 price range. You may want to check out the Korean made Fender Jazz 24. I have had one of those for several months now and have been really happy with it. It has more tone capabilities with the three band EQ and also offers a 24 fret neck. It's about $80.00 - $100.00 more than the MIM Deluxe. It can be a little more modern sounding but it doesn't lose the "Jazz" tone. It's very "growly". The neck is slightly thinner than a standard jazz and the body is a little smaller to compensate for the 24 fret neck but it still looks and feels like a Fender Jazz.

Thanks for all you replies guys, I think I may go and get this I love the vintage white, I love vintage basses in the first place and this was the colour I wanted, only I figured I'd have to buy a white jazz and wait like 25 years:smug:

Which of the Fender basses are made in Japan? I just notice that mostly all there active basses are Mex in the American basses have that S-1 button. Which sound pretty dayum good. In the value drops like a Benz. For 1200.00 bucks 3 or 4years from purchase you can get 75% of your money or more. But not those MIM basses they suck on resale value. 30 days after maybe a 150.00 bucks.

For such a Variety, Might I suggest Stringing it with a Medium Guage set of FlatWounds.

This is not alot to ask out of an Active Jazz. Full on Front Pup with the EQ tweeked will give you an Upright Tone, Full on Bridge Pup with some tweeking almost sounds fretless with flats. ANd then there is everything in between. I tend to favor the front Pup on mine, only 'cause I like the Bass to have some BASS.

But, thats my
