You are one of the few people I have heard say that they are VERY happy with the stock pickups on the MIMs. I liked them ok at first but I guess GAS curbed my appetite for something new. I didn't have the cash to go out and buy a new bass so I opted to upgrade. I am glad I did. It takes all kinds.tplyons said:

It is on the right---a 2001 MIM 60's classic Jazz. BA II added, and great Lindy Frailin split coils. Sadowsky strings, too!

Wow, you are correct it is a 1998 model.I've heard people talk about the John Suhr pickups/pre in the MIA's but I didn't know they used them in the MIM's as well. Are they supposed to better than the current models? Anyways. here's the story with my bass.I started a thread a while back about possible upgrades for a 1995 MIM Squier Jazz I had picked up for $100. I bought the pickups/pre from this 1998 MIM Deluxe J from a Pitter with the intention to install them in the Squier.When the rest of the bass went up for sale I decided instead to sell the Squier and put the pickups/pre in the bass it was made for(which was alot easier than doing all of that routing).So she's all back together now and sounding great....No hum and lots of tone options with the pickup blend and 3 band-EQ. I have 3 EBMM basses and while the build quality is nowhere near as good as them, this bass is definitely a contender.I see a Badass II in it's near future.thebassclef said:AHH, mid to late 90's with Suhr Pups. I don't know if most people would say they are Better than the current models, but I really like them. More low end response than the newer ones.Cantstandsya said:

I agree, this thing has a ton of low end.I had a 1998 MIA Deluxe Jazz that I ended up selling beacuse it was very thin sounding and had a very weak output.I think it had the same pickups/pre as this one but it might have been the smaller-very light-ash body that made it sound so thin? I'm assuming split coil mode would be with the pickup blend in the middle?thebassclef said:
