i need a good pick guard for my MIM, either Mint, White Pearl, or Tort, but im leaning away from tort because its so common... mMMM mint. also, i just put a BAII on my bass, and it made the bass great, so much better, its almost hard to describe, the sound is way more defined. i reccomend it to all you MIM owners
btw the bass is black, also considering regular old white.

so yeah, black on black works! dont rule out tort! it looks good in almost any setting on a black bass. its not obvious looking but, i think its much less common than white or black for a black bass.

Unknowndude. Aftermarket PG's will have to be modified in most cases to fit MIM's. Just thought I'd let you be aware of that.

My first bass, bought new. I still have her. Her name is Bonita.

• 2000 MIM Jazz
• Poplar body, I think
• Maple neck
• Rosewood board
• Midnight blue. It's really purple. Remember, purple is the color of funk
• MIA style knobs
• DiMarzio Model J's
• BA II bridge

She still gets a lot of playing time. Feels like home. I'll probably put a set of Fralin's or Nordie NJ4SV's in soon.

OK, here is a kinda unique MIM jazz that I got a few years back on Musicians Friend. It's a Figured Maple Top with a Tobacco Sunburst finish. I have never seen another one of these in person but I'm sure there are some out there. They only made a few of these and I think they all got sold through MF.
It was around $400 which was a steal in my book as it's one of the nicest looking Jazz basses I have ever seen.
I threw a set of Custom Shop 60's pickups in it and it's my main bass. I have an old MIM "Squire by Fender" jazz as well as my backup bass.

I must get at least 2 or 3 people come up to me at each big gig and complement the bass on it's looks and tone. I wish I could find another one to keep as a backup...

how are the mim 5'ers? ive been pondering a new bass to add for some new tones, i was thinking a p bass, but i dont know if i want fretted or fretless, and also maybe a jazz 5. ahhh what to do,

Played a MIM DLX 5'er the other day, and i have to say they are very comfortable and have some great tones.

Yeah, that's a priority of mine. Strat knobs just don't feel right on a Jazz.

I'm going to replace the mini-pots with solid shaft CTS pots, or possibly a stack knob setup. Haven't really decided yet, but it'll get jazz knobs for sure.

Not a huge fan of mint on sunburst. If anything else, I'd probably go straight black.
