If you like LPB, you are not stupid, right?

No. You are not.
This is just about a style of finish. If you like LPB, you are not stupid, right?
I think it's a bit more than "style of finish" - It reminds me of buying pre-faded or ripped jeans, when that was in fashion...

Yup, I think you're right. Fender has got to know that we got this fairly massive recession goin' on - Cheap will be the new cool soon enough.
Your opinion of pre-faded jeans not withstanding, relic finishes ARE just a style of finish. It is not as if such instruments inherently need a refret, new pots, or have dead pickups. I have had all of those and more with old Fenders.
Sheesh, guys--some manufactured dings and scuffs, and the geezers go ballistic. Who-da thunk it? It amazes me still.
But oh, right. "It ain't real." Can't you find something else that is ACTUALLY dishonest to care about? This is trivial stuff--a finish on a relatively cheap bass. No one is pretending these instruments are vintage basses. Get it? Nearly every single thread in the last year touching on this topic has ended up being about how relic finishes are some how evil.
Get over it. Grow up. People have different tastes and guess what---bad news---here it is---wait for it----
Things change. Hate it all you want.![]()

Ah... So that I have an opinion about what *I* like that does not coincide with what *you* like means that I need to "Grow up". Hmmm.
Sorry if your bothered that I don't agree with you. I didn't realize that my opinions were that important...![]()
+1
BTW, the Roadworns are not actually all identical--similar, yes, identical, NOT! Jeez--just look at a couple.![]()

I'm 100% with you, but to each his own. I suspect that the players that will be drawn to these basses are, for the most part, noobs who don't want to wait to earn their stripes, so to speak.
It *really* cracks me up that they might all look the same - can you imagine five of these on a GC wall, all looking worn exactly the same way... Poser heaven!

I then looked at the price tag. $1200???? For a MIM Fender??
So I'd say that for $600, this is a good axe. For $1200? Uh, I don't think so.
