I found a used Spector Legend MK5 for $500 CAD with a hardshell case. It's Korean. Do you think I should get it?

The great thing about Spector basses is that you can make them sound any way you want with a simple pup or preamp swap. If you get one be sure to join the Spector club on TB, tons of great advice and great people. They will help you get more enjoyment out of that Spector than you ever thought possible.

Warning - Spector basses breed like rabbits. I started out with one and in less than a year I had accumulated three. All fantastic lookers and players. My first was a neck through Korean model (Tbrd style Rex5), after that was a Euro 4LX poplar Burl followed by a USA NS2J limited edition walnut bass. Of the three I feel the Euro 4LX was the best bang for the buck. Legends down here go for between $400 and $800USD used in mint condition depending on the model. The Euros go for around $1000USD used and the used USA built models typically run $2000 and up depending on the model.

If it's used be sure to confirm what pickups and preamp it has (the Spector club can help with this if you supply a photo of the control cavity). It's not uncommon for Spector owners to drop some pretty nice preamps in their basses but the stock stuff is fantastic as well.

I just PM'd a Spector member that is selling a nice Spector bass. It is a NS2JAR.. It is a Czech built Spector bass.. He is also in the same country as you too, so that will help in taxes and stuff like that ..

I think you should pose the question on the Spector Club thread. I'm not as familiar with the Legend models so I don't know if that's a great deal or just average.
99Z3 looks like he might have a lead on a NS2JAR in Canada - those are dynamite basses, if you can snag one at a good price you'll have a real keeper! More often than not if you ask the club about a Spector model that interests you they'll know somebody near you that has one and it's not uncommon to get club pricing from the Spector clan as well.

The Rebop has a very different neck from other Spector basses, so don't judge Spector basses solely on the Rebop. They are a great bass in their own right, but truly a different animal from the rest of the Spector hurd!

Hi and YES: I realized that recently when my good friend and long time bassist buddy let me try his NS-2....but for a novice with no concept of how they sounded at the time, I just couldn't get it to work out for me.

I am very thankful to my bass teacher and friend: the bass is something to be played IN A BAND though to figure out the SOUND: I fell in love with the instrument but man you REALLY have to pick the RIGHT GEAR for the situation you're in on every level with it....
