Looking at how many Mustang enthusiasts are in the world I hope Fender will release a Professional Series Mustang with a bridge giving both string thru and top load options and also more color choices and fretboards in maple and rosewood as well.
The prejudice against short scale basses seems almost gone and IMHO the Mustang is just as classic as the P and the J basses.
The Torino Red PJ is slowly being phased out in Europe and the Oly White and Sonic Blue versions are getting bumped up in price quite a lot. A sign of things to come?

I took a look at Thomann website, which I consider first reference in Europe, and they no longer show the Torino red PJ.
Maybe it is indeed a sign of things to come (American Professional Mustang at next NAMM?).
I understand most people wanting a Mustang bass as close as possible to the original might be going for the Vintera, however I prefer top loading bridges, that's why I like the PJ.
Best of both words would be a bridge with both options (something similar to what is already on the American Professional Series P bass for example, that's both string thru and top load).
Who knows, let's see what Fender will bring out in the future.
Fender already has the American Performer Mustang. My guess is that they won't be super quick to bring in an American Professional unless there was a big demand for one. The MIM basses are fantastic. Vintera looks great.
Two things -- first, can I get a number? I am the proud owner of a Fender American Performer Mustang. Might be the best bass I've ever played. Picture below....
Second -- for players coming from a P bass to the Mustang, did you have to make an adjustments to your amp settings, or anything when playing with your regular groups? I found that my Mustang is much hotter than my P bass and a little wider in tone. Not a bad thing at all -- it's why I love it (warmth for days) but curious about anything others may have done to tame some of it's characteristics.
I'll most likely be playing this as my main axe due to a finger injury on my fretting hand, a bad shoulder and old(er) age.
