You Mustang Fans have my respect.
In high school, I graduated from a no-name bass, to a Mustang, in the school's music department.
Played a lot of school dance's, with that Mustang.
Good times, they were.

Fellow Shorty fans, question for you:
I have a hankering for a mustang, black with a maple board. There is one for sale as that color is a CME exclusive, but it is a PJ.
Since I want a regular mustang, could I get a loaded pick guard from a Vintera from the stratosphere and then just plug it in?
I know I’ll need to plug the j pickup cavity, but will the guard just drop in? It looks like the same 9 hole pattern

I have a question for you guys. I previously owned a Mustang PJ and it had neck-dive. That was the main reason I sold it (although I loved the tone and looks). Are all Mustangs about the same when it comes the neck-dive, or the different models have different severity of it, and some have none? If so, which model(s) have no neck-dive at all?
Mine had neck-dive and, from the posts on this thread, many Mustang PJ's do. I believe it is a product of a lighter/smaller body and a neck that is not scaled down to the size of the body. I corrected mine with ultra-lite tuners and a brass bridge. Considering the benefits, to me, of a short-scale, it was well worth it!
My PJ was as bad as SoulRefection described. I went a little different route and replaced the stock tuners with a set of Grover Vintage 142c4 that I already had on hand. Of course the peg holes had to be routed to fit. Plus I installed a hipshot 5K400N high mass bridge and these changed the shooting match completely. It is now balanced, ported, and blue printed, WAIT that's my vintage '67 Camero. I have been told that PJ can be worn like a necklace. I am sure it is not like Soul's but I can now practice standing up. Something I haven't been able to do in 6 years. YES Mustang PJ's have neck dive. At least all the ones I tried.

Hey there crazy young man! You know I have heard that from other Pawn shop owners. My perception is that they do not have the same neck. I have read many complaints that the PJ neck is large and almost just a scaled down P-Bass neck. The headstock is the same size on the PJ as the P-Bass. I could very well be wrong as the specs on both say 30" C shape 9.5 radius.
Well that should be enough of my perception to start a Ruckus.

I have TINY HANDS! Well, small hands. And rather short fingers. I don't play a P bass for that reason. The Mustang PJ feels thin and comfy to me, for whatever that's worth!

I have a Pawn Shop and there's no neck dive. That little fella is a pleasure to play.
Ok I can't stand it. Ths is the third time I have seen this and it is driving me crazy.
On Reveb is a 1969 Fender Mustang Bass in competition orange with racing stripe. It is in extremely good condition.
Unfortunately I just acquired my 1969 bass that I have drooled, dreamed, and wanted for 50 years so this one is a no go for me. They are asking $3900 for it so they know what they have. From the pictures it appears to be worth every penny.
So you vintage collectors there is one out there.
I got mine now you can get yours. I hope I am not breaking any rules with this. Just answering the question "Is there anymore out there?"

It's not a mod. That's a 100% stock Fender Mustang (Made in Mexico). The picture may not show it, and it's really hard to read, but it does say Mustang (in black) on the headstock after the Fender logo. The guy at GC said it had only been in a day or so and it's a limited production model??
BTW: The MLP was a bit 'north' of $549- but not quite in the Vintera neighborhood.

I just picked up a Mustang (yesterday), all black w/ebony fingerboard. When I tried to walk away it started calling me, I hear things from time to time. Anyway it wanted to come home with me so I couldn't say no.
How do I fill out the Club Membership forms to get my number???
