Just saying hello... have a PJ with Frailin pickups and a high mass bridge and a sweet new JMJ. I switched from mostly playing a Jazz after having arm surgery as the short scale was easier to play...I wish I had found the Mustang sooner!

If should be ok. The headstock isn’t much smaller, if at all. You can also use your fingers to measure (ballpark) the distance between tuners on one of your other basses to be sure. Can you install bass strings on a short scale Fender headstock in the same manner as a long scale? I'm wondering because aren't the pegs closer together?
I know that there's the "two pegs in front and cut" method for installing strings on Fender style headstocks: How to measure the right amount of string to clip when installing new bass strings on Fender-style headstock | eBass
i was wondering if you need to leave a little more or less for a Mustang Bass, or Bronco Bass headstock?
I don't have a long scale Fender bass ):If should be ok. The headstock isn’t much smaller, if at all. You can also use your fingers to measure (ballpark) the distance between tuners on one of your other basses to be sure.
If you don't bond with the Fenders, let me know if you'll sell. I'd try them!Just finished shielding the JMJ and much, much quieter. Made a real difference. I'm liking it. Not sure about the Fender flats, though. Something about the feel of them doesn't seem right to me. I'll give them a day or two to see if they grow on me. I have Chromes on my PJ and GHS Pressurewounds on my Jag SS, so like the idea of having something different on the JMJ.
I also realised something was bugging me about the look, and it was having a thumb rest instead of the original tug bar. Sorted that out easily enoughView attachment 3749623
I was reading about Fender Flats last night, and looks like they change character after being played in for a while. Because the bass came with a set of used Chromes in the bag, I don't know when the previous owner switched them (it was being sold via a music store). So these might be effectively brand new, only put back on to return the bass to stock, or he might have only had the Chromes on for a day or two, didn't like them, and switched back. I'm already familiar with Chromes from my PJ, so I'll probably give these a good few weeks and see what happens. It's beginning to sink in that there's no rush to do anything, as band rehearsals and gigs are all on hold.If you don't bond with the Fenders, let me know if you'll sell. I'd try them!
Joining the club! Does anyone know if my JMJ will fit in a JM/Jag G&G case? I saw Fender sells a G&G case made for the Mustang Bass but I really hope I can use my spare G&G case from an AVRI JM. I also checked the measurements and it's pretty close. I suppose I will find out next week if no one's able to help.
Here's my black JMJ Mustang Bass waiting to be sent to me!
