Fender Mustang Club

Picked up my Mustang from my tech today with the Serek LZN B90 installed and got to play it a bit. It sounds amazing. Fat and muscular like one expects from a P90ish pup but still has clarity. It responds very well to the tone control. I was surprised that it seems to have a little less signal than my short scale EBMM. I would highly recommend this pickup. As a side, he also did a little set-up and made it play so much better. I’m a very happy camper.

One unexpected bit was that when he squared off the holes from the stock pup, that left an opening larger than the pup, leaving a gap around the new pickup. I’ll end up picking up/making a new pickguard I think.

Forward to last year and our older daughter wanted to paint one of dad's guitars. So I bought the parts and build the Mustang-parts caster. The body originally was seafoam green. The art was based on a graffiti design she saw and photo'd on a train car. Paw prints are one each for the 2 grand-pups we had at the time, have 4 now.

I put Bronco necks on both because they're very slim and comfortable for my old arthritic hands. The same daughter that painted the Mustang body made custom headstock stickers too.

I love the basses and the connection to 2 or our kids makes them extra meaningful. None of our kids were musical but all 3 had artistic talent. Who knows, if I play long enough maybe the younger daughter will jump in at some point and I'll have 3. :D

This would look nice with a chrome trim ring on the existing pick guard.

There's always more room in this corral for more mustangs! Heck, there's no fence anyway - just a gate that's always open, a looonnng hitching rack, and lots of like-minded company. Where there'd be a fence, there's just open range, with our Mustangs limited only by our imagination (and the standard TB rules, of course ;-).

Congrats! That pickup looks better than the split Mustang pickup.
Could you please provide measurements of the Serek LZN B90?
I have the opportunity to buy a used Squier Mustang and I am considering doing something similar, using an EMG 35HZ pickup, but I will have to purchase on line so I am wondering about how much the pickguard and the body will have to be cut.
