Thanks! Yeah, it seems like the Pawn Shop 'Stangs have appreciated nicely. I bought mine used not too long after it came out. It had one ding in the body, but was otherwise in mint condition. I got it with case for $450.

I have a Couch strap on my sunburst Squier Mustang, but it's not as perfectly matched (black and silver). I'm considering getting one that's brown with an orange stripe.

That looks like the same case as I have that came with somebody’s JMJ. It has that same little leather neck strap thingy that I only snap up half the time and thus know that I’ll end up accidently yanking out one day when I’m not thinking about it and just grab my bass (none of my other instruments have such a neck retainer strap).

If there's still numbers being handed out I'd like one. I've always wanted a Mustang, but the stars never aligned before now. I was actually glad to see the PJ combo, I know some prefer the standard Mustang. But the PJ allows this bass to become an everyday, any situation player for me.

I've got it all set up now. Great tone, definitely a good variety of tones you can get out of it. Great action. It's the first bass I've owned with a switch and I think I prefer the switch to the VVT of my jazz bass.

Anyway that's my mini review. Great player right out of the box. Probably ground that's been well covered already in the thread.

Yeah, that cheap plastic strap is basically worthless. When I got it, the long portion had already pulled loose from the pop rivet. :-/

Is there such a thing as a good quality, "smaller size, like the bass itself" gig bag for the Mustang bass?
I'm currently using a G&L gig bag, which I like, but it's longer than it needs to be.

Does a regular fender guitar case work for these?

I use a Mono Guitar case. Fits quite well.

I think you may be right: I think he had a white MM and a black Mustang.

You know I have a feeling the stock fender bridge was not grounded properly on my PJ mustang.

Buzz is seriously diminished after installing a babicz and making sure it was 100% in contact with the ground wire.

Not to mention the babicz is just better in every way imaginable

Yes, Equipboard shows photos that would back that up. Out of interest, what is the difference between the two? They look very similar

MM has what I have been told is basically a Strat pup with 4 pole pieces instead of 6. MM strings ride on 2 adjustable barrel-type bridge saddles (2 strings per barrel) and bridge is top-load, uses short-scale string sets.

Mustang pup is split: 2 strings and 2 strings (like a P-Bass). Mustang bridge is string-through with 1 barrel/saddle per string (4 total) and generally uses medium-scale sets.

A few vintage Mustangs (70s?) have a body relief cut, but I've never seen an MM that did.

And (as pointed out by Craig4003) the pick guards are slightly different.
