Fender Mustang Club

I've been experimenting with shorter switch tips.

View attachment 3123654

This is the stock Fender switch tip with some length shaved off the bottom. I also reamed out the hole in the base, to allow it to slide down over the switch itself a bit more. I really like the feel of this shorter switch. It stays out the way until you need it.
That’s a reasonable mod that only costs a bit of time. I haven’t had an issue with the stock switch height, but good idea for those that do.

Is there such a thing as a good quality, "smaller size, like the bass itself" gig bag for the Mustang bass?
I'm currently using a G&L gig bag, which I like, but it's longer than it needs to be.

Does a regular fender guitar case work for these?

No but a Gator XL case apparently fits. It is a guitar case but is extra long so the Mustang fits, but check it for yourself before buying.

Well Chef, there was, but it looks like it isn’t available right now. Fender had the Urban gigbag for short scale bassas up until a few months ago. Don’t know what happened to it. Decent enough. Maybe if you do a thorough search you can find one.

Folks may I present the results in a bit of labor a comparable small amount of outlay in parts and a lot of advice and input on your part. I haven't named her yet but that will come.

The short version - It's done and meets all of the wants, needs, and expectations I was looking for.

If anyone has any questions please feel free. It is the least I can do for all of your patience and help.

Thank you again

Bob

Hey Chef, I bought my PS Mustang used on eBay, and it came in a Fender guitar case; it fits just fine. It looks like there are quite a few short-scale bass gig bags on Amazon.

For my MIJ Mustang, I got a used Fender Mustang Bass case from someone who’d gotten a JMJ Mustang and didn’t want the case taking up space in his apartment. You might be able to pick up one of those...

FWIW, the MIJ Mustang came with a form-fitting Fender gig bag, so those are out there too (not necessarily common, but they’re out there)
