That's the same color as my 59 Coup De ville! Wait, nope, the 59 has a little more green tint to it, the 58 more blue. Man, looks so nice you need a big chrome grill and a hood ornament! Congrats! What type of paint is it?

I don't know anybody making a chrome tuner, that would be cool! I guess you could paint one with that "chrome" spray paint. It probably just comes out silver though.

I love what you did with that Lyte. So cool and clean. It's a really nice blend of modern and vintage style. I'm gonna be gassin for a pastel bass now.

I completely agree with the refin/rebuild being a labor of love. The time and money you invested here will be impossible to recoup,,, I'm sure that's not an issue.

At a wedding Saturday the photographer and her assistant both complimented my "guitar". I checked her facebook to snag some photos of the band in our fancy white jackets. The only band pic she posted was this one:

Had some people asking over the years about getting the bqc pre into the cavity. Instead of trying to dig up the pics every time I'm going to drop them here.

It was a puzzle. I used a dremel tool to hollow out some 'caves' in the side of the cavity low enough so it didn't affect the surface and the cover still fit. I think I put some electrical tape in places to make sure the pieces didn't touch. I don't remember for sure but I think I did widen some of the shaft holes. Seems like there was some trick I read about on TB to keep them from splintering but now I can't remember.

In this last pic the knob on right is blend, top is volume, bottom bass/treble and left mid. Wanted volume far right and blend top but couldn't make it fit.

Hello, I just picked up a precision lyte and was in the middle of doing some similar mods when I came across this thread. I'm also going with the Hipshot hardware. The tuning holes on the Lyte neck have a smaller I.D. lip on the back of the headstock. I don't want to trim it out.
-Did you use 3/8" Hipshot tuners? My old 1/2" HS Licensed won't make it past the lip.
-Is the string spacing on your A bridge 19mm (.750")?
-Would you ever be able to send a PDF template of your pick guard pattern? i want to put a tortuois on my sunburst and your PG looks amazing!

I used 3/8 hipshots. The bridge is 19mm.

I only have a posterboard cutout I made for a template. I sent it and the body to Jeannie's and Roger made a template and two pick guards. He passed away shortly thereafter and I don't know what became of the template.

The cutout is too big for my scanner. My sister has a big scanner. I might get her to make a scan but no promises.

Thanks for getting back to me. It looks like you mounted your bridge through the back set holes. it looks like these are there for a string thru bass and i'm wondering if this is how you mounted your bridge.
how has this worked for you?
Did hipshot designed this to act as a string thru port, a place to fix the bridge or both?
I suppose if this set up has worked for you gigging over the years and intonates well then it's gravy!

Pretty sure they are mounted in the correct holes. I originally ordered the 4 hole version but they didn't quite line up with original holes so I switched to the 3 hole and drilled new holes. I was told by @JxBass that the 4 hole version lined up perfectly with the original holes on his lyte.

I think the type A bridge is designed for string thru or top load but you should check with Hipshot to be certain.

You had me worried there for a minute. But at least you inspired me to wipe away the gunk that had built up around the bridge before I took the pic.

Yeah Jx! That looks nice!. So I have the 4 hole A bridge with 19mm/.750" spacing and the holes do indeed line up, but if you mount with correct holes, it pushes the bridge WAY to the back of the body. so far that the saddles may not be able to extend far enough forward to intonate in the correct position. If i mounted on the the string through holes it would be perfect and look a lot more like the set up you guys have. It looks like Jx has the four hole and it is mounted in the correct spot so i wonder if you had to drill new holes too? i only would do this as a last resort, i guess.
