I really only have one 100% fender anymore [all my others are frankies]: It's a 74 Pbass I've had it since I was thirteen, it just sound great and has a B neck so it has that special in-between a P & a J comfiness.

Every hot girl I have known says nothing is a bigger turn off than a guy that wears white t shirts, they all prefer suits but each could be a regional thing.

I find this statement difficult to believe especially in Berkeley, Ca. Heck, Cali itself is a major T-shirt culture and to be honest nothing says American better than a pair of denims with a white T-shirt, simple yet bold like a Fender.

I was trying to decide what to vote for...but then I realized I love EVERYTHING about a Fender!

-The look makes me want one.
-The sound makes me keep one.
-The history makes me know what model I want (i.e. all I gotta do is listen to a 60's or 70's band playing a Fender, and find whatever I like)
-The "lifestyle" is mostly people just saying "Dudeee, that bass is sickkkk!"
-The "community" gives me massive subsidies to buy Fender basses. I think part of Obama's stimulus was directly related to people in the community supporting a good cause and buying tons of Fender

There was a study done by GQ Magazine I think. I'm really not sure if it was them actually, but definitely some fashion industry-type, and more than suits, bathing suits, or any other clothing of any kind, women thought men looked best wearing blue jeans and white-shirt.

I used to play a super-expensive boutique bass because we all know that quality is directly proportional to price. But I quickly realized that no one outside of TalkBass cared about my fancy boutique, and got tired of being shunned by the Fender community, which includes hordes of non-musicians who recognize Fender. So I sold my spizzalted buckaroo tanglewood bass in favor of a Fender, and now everyone loves my bass playing.

I was attracted to Fenders because of their reputation and the fact that many of my favorite bands were using them. What keeps me using Fenders is the playability, sound and feel. So, a little bit of both history and sound.

two choices is not enough. I play a P for the sound and I dig the look, but a Fender would never be my first choice in terms of feel - not without a re-radiusing of the fretboard at least!

When I wake up, I put on my Fender socks, then eat my Fender cereal. Then I drive my Fender car to the Fender factory. I make a few Fenders, then drive home to Fenderville. I watch the Fender news, while cooking Fender steaks.....blah blah.

Also, when i was starting ( 1990) not many players used Fenders (or J basses to be more specific) but i always liked the look of J basses. John Paul Jones, John Alderete, Jaco, they all looked great with their Jazz basses but the sound of Marcus Miller was the thing that sold me on Fenders.

I only bought mine because it was one fifth of the RRP. It was far from my first choice, and I didn't need a fancy Spector Euro 5LXEX or Sadwosky Hybrid P/J.

I voted History, Community and Lifestyle. Honestly, when I started playing bass that's what made me want a Fender. They're just so damn cool. However, the fact that they both feel and sound 'right' to me after trying many other brands is what keeps me playing Fender products. So 6 of one, half-dozen of the other.
