So, what percentage of the bass has to be pre-CBS to join? I recently (and fortunately, cuz it’s a killer bass) acquired a Fender parts bass consisting of a ‘64 neck, pups, pg, bridge/saddles, and knobs. The body, neckplate, and pots are from ‘71.


Regardless of non-membership, I wanted to ask those of you with a jazz: does your pre-CBS jazz (VVT setup) happen to offer more shades of in-between than your other jazzes? I ask because until now, i’ve been used to only hearing a difference between full on or just slightly backed off; but with this bass, it sounds like there’s more room for shades of tone (perhaps the pots just have a different slope than I’m used to).

Yup! Previous owner primarily works with Fedora, so he thought it’d be cute…

I am seeking suggestions and recommendations for somebody who can take the overspray off the back of this neck and restore it to his original condition which would be worn and its original lacquer

1963 Precision bass restored back to it's original Sherwood green! I bought this with a pretty bad homebrew refin on it, didn't know what the original color was under all the goop until I started scraping. Got a really nice surprise, traces of the original Sherwood paint still in the neck pocket and pickup route. Dustin at Bloomdoom matched to the original paint color in the neck pocket and did a really great job with the refin, the color is spot on and turned out awesome!

I think it was.. $275? to do the refinish on the prepped body I sent him. Super affordable for the great work he does, the finish is really thin and hard nitro and he can do checking, aging etc. I have a few of the primo Riggio refinished guitars and actually like the way Dustin does refins better, not as thick on the coats and more like an older nitro finish that has gassed off some. Send him an email he'll do whatever you want and is an awesome guy. Dustin@ bloomdoomguitars

I've never seen anything like this in the neck pocket of a Precision base before any idea as to whether is an artifact of the refinish or if it might have come from the factory this way I'm talking about this world and other marks in the wood thank you
