there are plenty of 66's for that much that are sunburst.

I have a 63' so its hard to justify when the kids need shoes but its a stupid good deal IMO for a collector piece

I have a 63 too. Just enjoy your pre cbs bass and be happy you have a good one. :)

I guess the price seems high to me cause it's post cbs. I bought my 1963 this summer. Other than the finish and the pick guard, it's all original. After buying it, getting it sunbursted and a spitfire custom tort guard, I have less than 3,500 invested in it. You couldn't pry my bass out of my cold dead hands to trade for that 66. But I guess some people place a high premium on orig finish. ;)

If an Olympic white 66 P is what you really want, then here is an opportunity that doesn't come up too often... Carpe diem! If your heart's desire is something else close to this, then have patience and wait for your holy grail. I waited 2 years for mine (black 69 jazz matcher) and finally scored a pristine one-owner :D

Anyone see this '62 on The Gear Page? Should arrive next week! :)

Will post more pics when it gets here. Makes up for all of the pre-CBS Fenders I had and let go when I was a kid.

Three basses (71 Precision, 72 Jazz, and '99 USA Deluxe V) and four guitars (one Fender, one G&L, an ES-335 and an ES-339) and a bit 'o' cash. All of the instruments were sitting in my closet gathering dust. My wife, bless her heart, nudged me to make the trade because she knew I was pining for an old Jazz Bass and this opportunity was just too good to pass up. My inner Jaco took over, and I pulled the trigger. Time to grow what hair I have left, find a headband, and practice Teen Town (which I haven't done in 20 years or so...).

Congrats man. Btw, I've been thinking of getting an ES 339. What did you think of that guitar?

Thanks! I'm very excited.

I've discovered I'm just not a Gibson guy. Don't like the string length or spacing, but that's because I've played Fenders (or G&Ls) since I took up guitar. But the 339 was fine--lighter than the 335 but sounded pretty close.
