Fender Precision Bass thread

Are p/j's ok, or am I out of line?

I need clarity.

You are completely out of line! You should hang your head in shame in the corner of the room while praying for forgiveness.. Any self respecting bassist knows you MUST not mess with the P bass form! Who are you to mess with the holy grail of tone? Pffff.. If you must have knobs to play with buy a Jazz.. In fact I don't understand all this nonsense of P or J bass. Real bass players own and cherish both. God owns both.. Even Satan owns both (but God messes with him with rolling power outages from time to time) Leave the P alone! Its already more bass than anyone really deserves.. ;)

Hey guys, I just sold my 4-string Precision. It was a good bass but my Precision V is gooder. Plus, I want a Dimension Deluxe V and I had to 'thin the herd' and the 4-string P-Bass wasn't getting the playing time it deserved.

It's all good.

That's all right. I'm sure you are a good person anyway. You are forgiven, even if you strayed and erred.

P bass threads with time traveling are VERY good.

So it's been a while since there was a thread dedicated to the Fender Precision bass. They are good basses. Do you also agree that they are good basses?

I disagree. They are not good basses. They are GREAT BASSES! I own several P basses from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. My favorite is my 82 which was made at the original Fullerton, California plant. However, as much as I love my P basses, I find myself playing my Jazz basses more often due to the versatility in the tone. I also like the necks better.

I'm starting to......my first experience with a Fender -P wasn't all that good...possibly because the one I tried out was an "off" or a factory second or something....it had neck dive like you wouldn't believe. But I've picked up others since then and they didn't have this issue...

Somewhere down the road there's a P coming my way for sure......

The guy in your avatar pic pretty much brought the P bass into the limelight.
