Nice bass just not moved by gold plating on instruments, or anything else but nickle or chrome for that matter.

Fender Precision "Midnight" edition MIJ

I seen them when they was first coming back on, when I was able to afford one , they was sold out .. so I bought another p bass fender.. and dropped gzr pu in it. I will still get one when I can.
Black and gold is my only accepted colour scheme for guitars, I'm truly jealous and want one too! I have 2 six strings in that scheme, although my only bass so far is pitch black, and can't decide yet whether to put some gold on it or keep it like this, dark and mystical....
Is this a new model? Serial number is not at the same place as it used to be... like the bass but don’t like the gold hardware.

I've got one. I won't get into the details because I already did that in another thread but to sum it up:
-Pickup: Good but not amazing.
-Everything else: Absolutely outstanding and a step above any other current Fender P-basses except Custom Shop.
These MIJ Fenders seem to be consistently good too. Not the rubbish QC of Fender USA.

Black hardware would also look good on this bass but then it would look like the Roger Waters sig bass. Minus the maple neck though.
I've got one, probably the first to arrive to Sweetwater. Mine has very dark rosewood. Pickup is weak. But, it's 60's version. I believe, they put more wire in 70's version.
I installed LaBella Gold flats on it. It took some time to start sounding right.

I got one too and I think it's pretty great. My pickup seems "strong". I'm coming from having a Guild Pilot with active EMG's. My only other true pbass experience was my friends MIM with quarter pounders. I thought it was amazing at first but over time it's seemed like too much. Out of ignorance.....what would be a better pickup option for this "60s" bass? Loaded question I know.

Here's a pic of mine. It's beautifully made, and it's lightweight and resonant. It sounds great with the Fender nickle plated steel strings that came on it. The only problem is that the action should be better. There's a lot of relief in the neck. And, it looks impossible to turn the truss rod without removing the pickguard. I think I'll take it to the authorized Fender repair guy.
Yeah, you'd better take that back and get a refund!
Seriously though, I don't remember ever seeing one with a gold logo. You'd think that's the way the would've gone in the first place.
Fender was very cool about it. They asked me to send In the seriel number and picture of logo. He wrote back and said everyone in the office said it's super rare and that logo should have been on it inThe first place. They said it looks better then the white. They also said the guy I bought it from bought it right from fender and had they cought it it would have never been sold. Nice to have the only one....lol
