I just bought a american pro ii p bass couple days ago for 1549.99, this morning its 1749.00. Ouch. Not sure how widespread it is, but guessing its everywhere.

Fender Price increase overnight

yep. I only know this because i had a jazzmaster in my cart, and today its 200 more than last nite. Oh well, here we go...weeeeeeee
these particular instruments weren't on sale, these were the standard prices up until this morning.
Wow, seems like they just had a price increase a few months back.

They did. And this is the 3rd one IIRC in less than 18 months. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see another increase 6 mos down the road .
Yeah i was bummed last year when fender franklin fretless went from 1500 to 2000 in one day...

Man, I just don't get it. All we hear is that people are hurting these days. Many can't make ends meet.
But real estate has skyrocketed. People are getting/paying CRAZY prices for houses. My house is up $135K in two years. The price of a full-sized SUV is creeping up toward a HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS in the US. But dealerships can't keep them in stock. (I know one lady who drives a Caddy SUV that was almost ninety grand! And that's STICKER...before taxes and fees! I bet it was in the mid nineties out the door.) Electronics are going crazy with prices. Used Dingwall basses are listed for slightly MORE than NEW on Reverb, and even a couple here recently. And they're selling in some cases! I know a family that just booked a trip to Disney for next October for ELEVEN THOUSAND BUCKS! And that's before flights! We've been booking rooms in Charlotte and Raleigh and Richmond VA for my kid's volleyball tournaments coming up. Rooms in average hotels are upwards of a couple hundred bucks or more. The only hotel we could get for Atlanta for an Easter weekend tournament was $249 a night before fees. And it's not exactly a five-star joint.
People can't buy big-ticket items fast enough.
Everything is jumping in price, but the increases are met with mostly shrugs.
A few of us here will shake our heads at the second Fender jump in a matter of months. But I'll bet it will slow down sales exactly zero. I hope people are investing in their futures as much as they're investing in "stuff".

Yeah i was lucky to get my p bass on 12 months zero interest payments thru AMS just days ago before this price increase and removal of 12 payment plans by fender...
Their prices are most definitely up across the board for both their Fender and Squier models. And they’re also all over the place.
The thing that seems to be the key factor in whether you’re paying even more is the color of the finish.

I got my Jazz V on 48 months no interest. Couldn't pass it up.
The other day, I ordered a takeaway meal for my wife & I - about £25 in total - and I was offered easy application credit for splitting it down into 3 monthly payments. A couple of pizzas. I have a sneaking suspicion that the scarcity of these big items right now is driving a lot of consumer debt for people desperate enough to need/want them now.
There's still good deals out there, but Fender aren't one of them anymore, sadly. I've ordered a custom made in Europe Maruszczyk bass - made to my specifications, including 30" scale, Hipshot hardware, Delano pups, P/MM config, multiple pickguards, deluxe gig bag & leather strap, etc - and for the price I've paid for that (including custom fees & shipping), I could just afford an off-the-shelf Fender Performer, the cheapest American made range. While I'm sure Maruszczyk will be raising prices soon, if they haven't already, I suspect they'd still be an excellent deal compared to Fender retail pricing.
I just did a little Google search and can't find anything in particular that marks December of 2013 as a historical event. Nothing in economics pops up. Care to explain?
Without getting political, I believe it's getting to the point where things are more important than money. I'm not talking about luxury items like musical instruments but every day items like food and clothing etc...

With the price increases over this last year I've made a point to start a pantry stocked with canned goods that will last a few years. Dried beans and rice. Bought a food dehydrator. Bought a few extra pairs of bluejeans, socks,undies etc.
Basses,guitars,amps, strings I got plenty of that stuff.
I know OFF TOPIC...
