Yes, CS 60 can be chubby, little too much sometime and you can hear that are low mid oriented, which I like, but I found it lacking in depth or in real low end (when you want to feel it in the mix) - maybe I am wrong here?; I get more low end with stock fender american standard pickups ( 98's american standard jazz), but over all tho stock ones are of course not very good.
Well I think the low mids outweigh any real lows that the stock have. But the stock have a cleaner bottom, probably cause lower mids are not so foward. I can only assume this allows the surrounding frequency to be heard, especialy if you raise the overal volume to compansate.
I heared also that 62's or "original" fender are lacking in lows.
They aren't as porky as the CS, but still perfectly acceptable.
Well, of course we have to stay in touch with a theme of this topic; so I am looking forward to hear more about this "pure vintage" pickups and some comparison.
