Well technically it’s not an instrument at that stage. It’s just a piece of wood. Another way to think about it that painters use heat fins to strip paint from wood all the time and it doesn’t harm the wood. The temperature required to soften and shrink the plastic would be about 300. Well below the ignition temperature of wood. Furthermore it would be in a oxygen depleted environment due to the wrap. Obviously wood won’t burn without oxygen.@mikewalker, and @WestyBassBob , thanks for weighing in on that. I learned something today.
MikeWalker, I remember those Photo Flame instruments, and I wondered what the process was, for those things.
WestyBassBob, I’ve worked with a lot of different materials overs the years, but the wrap thing is one that I haven’t done. (Most of my work these days is installing factory and aftermarket trim in the collision repair industry. Black out tapes, Stone guards, Things like that. I used to install factory stripes at car dealerships, back in the day.)
But still, not sure if I’d want heat applied on an instrument like that.
Again gents, thanks for the clarification.
And next, the artist model.
Who will be?
