Fender Rumble 40 vs. MarkBass CMB 101 ?

The new MarkBass CMB101 Black Line 40w combo just caught my eye, and I played a Ray34 through it today. I really liked it.

What does the internet say about it compared to a Rumble 40, which I own (plus did the TalkBass Eminence speaker and port mods to)?

I also liked that it is 2.5” smaller (LxW) than the R40.

Is it a better combo overall than the R40, worth swapping for? Or is it just more or less the same thing in a different color?

It's not better or worse, just different.
Only you can determine whether or not you prefer the tone of either. Play them side by side and you'll know. .

Sounds like your having some ear fatigue happening, where your ears have grown tired of hearing the same sound/tone of the amp you now have and used to like.
If you can afford to do so, maybe get the CMB101, park your Rumble 40 somewhere out of your way, and play through the CMB till your ears grow fatigued with it's sound/tone, then park the CMB and get the Rumble back out, (it'll now sound good again), play it till your tired of it's sound again, park it, get your CMB...and repeat.

I'm not sure how wide spread it's become, but all Brick and Mortar music stores in my area will no longer take in trade bass combos or bass cabinets that has had drivers swapped out and/or alterations made to the bracing/acoustic fill/ or tuning changes.

Take your bass, any effects you may use and your Rumble to where you auditioned the Markbass and A/B the two side by side.
That's the only way for "your ears" to decide which system they prefer.
