YES, this works quite well, even on my 500 combo. I daresay the 500 can turn down to whatever level you want from a 200, 100, 00, 25 or even a 15! But which of them can turn up to what a 500 can do?

I went through the same thought process as @MonsterRain before deciding on the 500c, too. Yeah, it'd be nice to have a smaller, lighter box to move instead. But, when the small box can't be heard, what good is it.

Besides, for known modest needs, my B-DEC still does great! :thumbsup:

I haven't posted in ages, but just have to say the Rumble 500 v3 combo is a lifesaver! ... and a back saver! Here in Tokyo, a small powerful light combo is a godsend. Although playing many locations the need of dragging amps around is not neccessary... most "live houses" have very decent equipment, so you can just "plug and play"... but when a gig requires "your" sound, this combo is the answer I dreamed of.

'51 reissue sounds awesome, and my biggest surprise was what my Tacoma fretless 5 with a K&K sounds like... unbelievable! Sweet!

Joining the club!! Purchased the 500 v3 combo about 8 hours ago. It's almost 2:30am right now if that's any indication how much I like it. I also picked up the new Mustang PJ. Auditioning for a band in less than 12 hours, taking both of them.

I've had the same bass rig for [gulp] 18 years (Ampeg B2R head, Ampeg 210 Classic cab). Never been in the shop, never had any problems. But the pair weigh 71 lbs (more actuall with the SKB case, rack power supply & compressor).

Thought about the Markbass CMD121, tried them both out. The only thing it really had going for it was the lighter weight - had a hard time getting what I'll call a "clean" sound (it sounded so processed no matter where I had the knobs).

I'll report back after my audition!

I had a Markbass Mini CMD 121P with a NY121. I traded it in for the v3 Rumble 500 Combo. I'm so glad I did. I may add a Rumble 112 cab to the 500C. One thing to consider about Markbass, God help you if you ever have a repair issue with Markbass. Fender is less likely to have an issue in the first place, and if the Fender does, it's a lot easier to remedy a Fender. An old Roadie Yakin' to ya'.

I think you'll be surprised at how nice the little PJ is. Lite weight but still feels solid. Can dial in a classic P sound can get surpringly close to sounding like a "real" J. Congrats on the new bass and amp!

I think Fender has really and finally gotten the Mustang Bass right! I hope this version will take off and sell well among those that like a short scale neck. I like the white body with mint pickguard too.

I have just dug out my 1989 Squier Precision bass, after my Son had asked about what was inside my Am.Std case. So I get the bass out tuned it up and put it through my Rumble 200 combo :D. What a pleasant surprise I left all the controls as they are (with the magic vintage switch on), the bass is stock and the amp made the pickups on the Squier sound quite good :).
This made me think about a thread here on TB about getting a better bass or amp, after my little experiment I would have to go with getting a better amp. I honestly think the Rumble would make any cheaper bass sound decent, and give you the time to save for a better bass.
Comparing the 2 basses though was like the difference between night & day, & with that the Squier went back into the case.
