Fender Rumble Club

I'm with the pre/post switch on yr DI too... altho. ...I ALWAYS go post eq coz as Linnin etc said. ..I like MY sound to go out front.
I understand the biz. .. ideally. ..a level control on it would be the go for me. . (my Super Bassman has this) as I might wanna 'up or down' my onstage volume and not have the sound engineer have to compensate.
Still. ... small thing for me. . Love the 500C!
Has anyone used the 500C WITH a Bassman Pro Neo 115 cab?
I WILL do this combination at some stage (& ON some stage:roflmao:) but IF anyone's done it before me, it'd be handy to know if it worked well. I'm pretty sure it will, but if anyone HAS tried it, please lemme know how ya went.
I am very happy with the 500C. ... not heavy at all to get in n outta the car, & has HEAPS of grunt. ...even without an ext cab.
I used it at a wedding gig last Sat. I was gonna use my Super Bassman into one Bassman Pro Neo 115 but came down with a heavy duty cold/flu. .. so. ...ANY thought of taking weighty equipment went out that window.
The Rumble 500C performed flawlessly. I used a 62AVRI Precision with GHS Precision flats and a EBMM STINGRAY 5 with EB Cobalt flats for some of it. Both basses sounded superb, and had many compliments on both my sound and the band.
Hard to beat
1. Great price
2. Great Tone
3. Great Portability
4. Great Power
5. Great Versatility
6. Great Looks
7. Great power to weight ratio. ...
I'm sure I could make an even 10 if I had time:woot::hyper:

Rumblers I come to you with a situation.

So, I decided on the Rumble 500.

599.95 (As far as I can tell this is standard so good to go)

So I get a message from a guy I know and their band has a guitarist who was going to switch to bass but he decided it was not for him and he is selling his Rumble 200 which was used only for his personal practice for about 2 months before he decided in no way was he going to be cool and play bass.

He is offering it to me for 300. It's damned near brand spanking new and well, that 500 is calling my name but this is half the price.

Am I basically cutting one of my balls off and going with "half an amp" with such a move?

Is that a great bargain and worthwhile or will I just curse the day I made the choice and wish I had spent the 600?

If we were talking list vs list it is a no brainer as 600 is not far off from 450 considering just how amazing that jump from 200 to 500 is but in this case we would be talking twice the price.

Guide me. What would you think and the pros and cons of it?

Basically do you think that is a value worth considering and then telling my wife of what a wonderful bargain I found or to tell her to not expect more for her birthday than maybe a tasty bass lick. (Which she should love more because that bass lick is better than shoes, dammit!)

Thank you and I am baby steps away from joining the club by figure worth asking the masters what they think.

You guys are the ones Victor Wooten goes to for tips so good enough for Wooten is good enough for me.

Played the first rehearsal with the rumble 500. It's the lightest combo in the room, although I didn't have to crank the volume past 10 o'clock :) Because of its relatively small size, I had no problem placing it in our cluttered rehearsal room. And of course great tone. I am happy.

BTW the lack of clip diode is confusing me, should I just use my ears to search for clipping point? Ideally I'd just plug into the effects loop return, but I worry I may fry the PA. Does the rumble have a self-protection mechanism in case it gets too hot signal?

I had the 200 (loved it) but did need a bit more with a loud rock band. It kept up but just barely. Now with the 500 I am finally content. Except for wanting a second 15 cab of course.

You can always buy an extension cab for the 200 if it's not enough for you, but I have the 200 and it's always been plenty for my needs. YMMV, of course, but I'd jump on it if I were you!

It mostly depends on what kind of music you play, the 500 will give you the ability to be heard in just about any situation (headroom). The 200 with an extra cab is still pretty loud tho and that is a pretty good deal on the head. If it fits your needs go for it. Was it enough for the seller when he was playing it?

While I'm thinking about it, I don't see where I was assigned a number when I posted about my little Rumble 25. I'm loving it by the way. Perfect for tossing in the the back of the Subie with one of my basses when I'm on the road for work.
Sorry, Rumble #802, didn't see your original post. The 25 is a sweet little practice amp. I've actually used mine on one acoustic church gig. But, Rumble on anyway.

YES! I actually got the Bassman neo 115 first, on the way to my Bassman 500, when the Rumble 500 combo delayed that head for a while. YES! The Bassman 115 was positively stellar with the Rumble 500c!!! I asked several times here and in the Bassman Club if anyone else did that, with no replies at all. More common to use Bassman heads with Rumble cabs. Try it, you'll like it.

You don't need the clip light. Rumbles are very hard to fry in this way as the Delta-Comp limiter is built right in. This is what Dave Lewis, Principal Engineer of Fender Musical Instruments, says about it:

Our overall gain structure and power amp limiter make the signal less likely to clip for typical basses at moderate Gain/Master settings, and having the newly developed Vintage and Overdrive features (that add some level of clipping or distortion to the signal) tend to negate the immediate need for such a "clip" indicator.

So just play, and don't worry. :bassist::hyper:

Right, I forgot about the limiter. I see in the schematic that it's placed after fx loop return, so I can just plug into the power amp which is great for me. Before the limiter there's a HPF - smart decision right there :)

I love my 200 and so far, it's covered all needs, including a couple outdoor gigs, I did have a 112 ext cab for those gigs. I used the pair this past Saturday, 4 piece rock gig, and I was too loud at sound check, had to take it down a notch. Again, if you plan on playing to much larger crowds you may want the 500, what a beast!
