I want to buy my first "serious" amp because I only have a couple of cheap anemic practice amps. From my research, I'm drawn towards the Rumble combos for their price, power and weight. I want to buy something that will last me for a long time (is 20 years too much to ask?) and I don't want to have to upgrade soon. I'm currently considering either the Rumble 200 or 500 combos. I can get the 200 for around $405 (it's currently on discount) or the 500 for $530. Besides the price difference, is there a reason to get the 200 instead of the 500. I don't plan to gig anytime soon but I might someday, which is why I'm considering the 500.
I've been playing bass for only two months but I'm very committed and going for the long term.
Welcome!
I think you'look be very happy with either one...I've been playing for decades, and have owned and played everything from Peavey TKO S to Ampeg 4-Pros, and I can tell you that Rumbles are quality amps!
One thing to consider is, if you play gigs down the road, what type of music and venues are you envisioning? Louder rock, heavy metal or larger gigs? The 500 is your choice, however the 200 gets a lot of love for smaller gigs and rehearsals...
Either way, enjoy!
