Fender Rumble Club

I think the only feature I don't like, and I'm not complaining about added features and it may be the nature of the single cheap Soapbar in this Ibanez, is the contour feature. It makes things really muddy. But I've never been a smart/EQ kind of guy. And typically I run combos at 12 o clock anyway. Other than that. Not that I'd use the build in OD I definitely appreciate it being there in case I change my mind. It definitely has a vintage (Turned up too loud on a tube amp) sound to it.

I also have the 500v3 head, but only a single 210. Its plenty loud for any gig ill have, but i've seriously been considering getting the extra matching cab, maybe on a Holiday sale. From your experience, does adding that extra cab really make a difference? Its about 50/50 whether or not I even go through the FOH.

Easiest and cheesiest way I can explain it is one 210 talks to you, 2x 210 gives you a nice hug.

Just adds another level. I cant begin to technically explain the difference, but its there.

So I couldnt drop this hiss issue and ordered a new replacement head.. Of course the hiss is still there on the replacement, but the strange thing is the new amp is NOT the same amp.

Its easily twice as loud (slight exaggeration) and the mids are considerably more present as well.

So I'm either losing it or someone did something inside the used 500.

With my rumble 100, I actually use the OD channel for all playing including practicing for Church Worship team.
I just find the best tone with the drive low and the gain all the way down.
As well as bright, contour and vintage all engaged.

The 25 does not have many of the features as the 100 and 500. No gain control or anything. Just on or off for contour and OD. In future I'll be getting the EH Micro POG. I'll see how everything fairs once that comes in. Plus. When I get my 500 I'll have way more control amp-side. But I do love this amp. Probably the best combo I've ever owned. It actually gives my old Randal 500w bass head a run for its money. Not in volume of course, but in sound.

I got my 500c from Musicians Friend about a year ago on one of their numerous 15% off coupon sales. Had some backstage points from a powered JBL sub I'd gotten earlier, that plus the 15% made it pretty reasonable. Waited till those backstage points became available to get the 210 extension cab with another 15% off coupon. When it was all said and done I had under $580 in the pair. Patience my friend, deals can be found.
That is a ton of rig for <$500!

Only thing I can think of, apart from you losing it. ...is that maybe the volume pot is different and it's giving you that tone and volume at a different spot on the dial.
Basically. ....that means. .. not much &/or I dunno :D

it's just a single pole push push tied to ground

Yes, I finally came across one of the vintage-style "dome" Fender switches for $20 at a music store "a few towns over" and said "what the heck?" It's very retro-looking, IMHO, and the best part is the cord is built in, so I don't have sacrifice one of mine or lose time hunting around for it.

Very glad I did picked it up. Actually using the OD more now that I do not have to walk back to the amp.

In the past, I have not been a big proponent of distortion for bass, but I must admit, the Rumble OD is actually capable of some usable tones...definitely nails the Jack Bruce "Apostrophe" tone with ease--lots of fun there!

As you were.

HEY RUMBLERS!

Do you prefer your Rumble's dirt channel or do you prefer to get your dirt form a pedal?

Bonus points for 'why'.

I use an Aguilar Tone Hammer DI for a hint of overdrive when desired. I also use it as my FOH DI signal so I can set the amp's EQ/volume separately and leave the DI sound static. I've also been experimenting at home with using the Vintage voicing with the built in overdrive off, but the input gain turned up past noon. It doesn't distort, but it compresses nicely.

I'm going to be straight up honest about this, I hardly ever play around with the effects. Why? Because I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Why? Because I never play around with effects.
So I started playing around with them, on a Rumble 500 and 2 210s. I mean really bizarre combinations. Drive/level maxed with the bright on and bass all the way up and I came up with some combinations that I thought were pretty cool. Maybe impractical on stage though so I can see why we have pedals. So in that regard the Rumble head has a lot of 'voices'. How practical that would be at a gig I don't know (but can probably guess). It seems like a lot of you guys/gals are really pushing the envelope so to speak with your pedals and effects. I wonder if AARP can give us old farts discounts on pedals? I can see it now, "I'm sorry sir, but has your doctor cleared you for playing with a Big Muff?"

Any explanation for this...otherwise than that the original head must have been defective?
