Fender Rumble Club

Really digging this amp. I had the head with a pair of 115s and let them go because it was a little too mushy for me. Then later I picked up this combo and took it to a rehearsal and it farted out badly at volume. I was very disappointed and returned it right away. I decided to give it another go. I think the one I had last time must have been defective because this one now is much tighter and quicker. Excellent amp.

HEY RUMBLERS!

Do you prefer your Rumble's dirt channel or do you prefer to get your dirt form a pedal?

Bonus points for 'why'.
I use the OD. It does what I want from an overdrive and I don't have to deal with another piece of gear. If I need to change settings, I don' have to get on the floor to do it. You older guys understand. You younger guys will find the older you get, the further away the floor is.

I prefer to think of it as the warm channel. I prefer it on both my Rumble 500c and my Bassman 500. A little more warmth here, a little less there, at any volume! I don't have to push it to earache level to get the desired hotness.

Anyone compared the loudness of the v2 350 head to the v3 500 head?
I haven't
I know it is the same power unit with some differences in implementation,
Fender hasn't released the schematics of the V3 Rumbles as they have in the past for V1&2, so unless you've seen them you don't know for sure they are the same ICE module. The biggest difference is in the front end with entirely new architecture.
not sure what the actual volume difference
The science is to raise the volume by a single decibel you must double the wattage. If SPL is all that you care about just buy the Rumble 500.

Just to clarify when the wattage is doubled there is a 3dB increase...

I don't think you can accurately describe the relation between volume and wattage. The amps may be more or less efficient, and there's much more variables to consider. The only way to compare two amps volume is to compare the amount of dB they produce when hooked into the target cab.

Regarding the aerodyne, it's got several dings on the back but I can live with it. It had its frets replaced and was set up. I'm surprised I can stand its RW fretboard, since I'm a maple die-hard ;) The price is 3000PLN or ~$822, usually the aerodynes go for 3300-3600PLN. It's in the same city so I'll probably come over with my LTD and compare the two.

I do have the 500 head... I'm planning to compare it directly to v2 350 head but was hoping someone else had already done so. I like the idea of the parametric EQ but worry about reports of a baked in scoop. The power of the v2 will probably be sufficient at 350w, but again, it would be good to hear from someone who has directly compared the two.
