I bought my guitarist's MustangIII (version 1, 100w 1x12 combo) when he bought a Blues Jr and I have never regretted it. It does everything imaginable for a half-witted guitar klutz like myself. My 6-string playing will never outgrow what that amp is capable of providing.

Since I’ve gotten my 500, I’ve gotten to play it twice at full(ish) volume. Both times with the band at practice. Tomorrow we’ll actually have a drummer there. Looking forward to how it sounds/holds up. The guitarist loves the tone. And I’m really liking how punchy and full it is! I’m still tweaking my sound with it. But now I’ve been GASing for an ext cab haha. The stack just looks so good. But after reading different comments it seems like it might be unnecessary. I’d love to open the amp up and have the full 500 watts into 4 10s(if I go with the 210 cab) but it sounds like just the combo itself is plenty for most if not all gigs.
So what say ye, fellow 500 combo owners? Will the combo alone be plenty? I can always add on later if needed, but if it changes sound/tone/etc id almost rather pick one up now. Can always turn down right haha.

it adds low end and headroom. and better monitoring because the upper cab is lifted closer to the ear! i never played the 500 cranked all the way up. but with the 112, i had some more sub bass and definition. maybe it is also because the 112 got both ports close to the bottom and delivers more sub because of this. but i recommend the 210, because the 112 is actually rated 200w rms only!

It was pretty loud haha. I cranked the gain and master to about noon. With tone pretty flat. But that was just to play with volume and see what it had. I’ve been keeping the gain down around 9 or below. With master around noon or so. Seems to be enough power for guitar and vocals thru pa. Excited to test it with the drums tonight!
Also, I had asked about “svt” type tones or slightly overdriven tones, so I did mess with the overdrive some. It’s not bad but sounds...thin? With vintage in its better. But I don’t know that I like vintage setting on clean channel. So I’ll probably get some sort of dirt pedal for when I need it so I can keep relatively same volume and low end when switching back and forth.
And I think I’m also going to try an experiment tonight. Just cause I can’t leave things alone lol. I’m thinking about bringing my little vox pathfinder along and running the line out from it into the effects return on my rumble. Essentially using the vox as my preamp. It’s the guitar version and I only bought it because it was stupid cheap at the local music store a while back. So I’ve played bass thru it and I actually kind of dig the sound. And it’s simplicity. Not much volume thru the speaker before farting out, but practicing with headphones plugged in sounded good. So I figured I’d try it out just for kicks.
Get the extension. I gigged for close to a year before I added a 2x10. It really adds to presence. You get more of that physical punch. do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it

Cool forum! I have a 100 watt V-3 Rumble. I have a Fender Select P-bass that sounds great thru the amp. The Jazz Plus doesn't sound as good as the P-bass.

Other basses have too many pickups and knobs

I decided not to be mean and cancel my order for my cabinets. And I got a delivery confirmation notice this morning ! They were waiting for me at my local post office box.
Got to run over to a local shop real quick and pick up a NEUTRIK so I can fire them up.

I never regretted getting the extra 115 cab to supplement my 500Combo..it really adds "fullness" and bottom end to both my 5 stringers.
