Fender Rumble Club

Just looking for some input from you rumble owners.

I'm looking at picking up the Rumble 100 for some of my smaller venue gigs. I'm wondering if some of you guys use it with the upright bass? How does the Rumble 100 handle to low end with reasonable med/high volume? Is it ported?

thanks

I believe that one of our members is using the 100 with upright.

It's ported, and it handles the low B on my 5-string slabs with no problem whatsoever. Like the older Rumbles, there's a built-in variable limiter that keeps big hits from clapping out the woofer.

I found it a little too boomy in the low mids when it was stock, which I could see causing feedback troubles with upright.

You can get some relief by rolling off the bass and/or low mids, but I found that I actually got better results by turning it into a sealed cab.

You could try this for yourself in the store with a couple of pairs of socks or some bubble wrap.

Alternatively, you could get all OCD about it like I did, and a.) line the cab with batting or foam, b.) insert a couple of heavy dowel braces to stiffen the cab walls, c.) fabricate fancy removable caps for the ports, and d.) install a tiltback foot under the cab, which also seems to lighten the low-mod peak.

Modded or not, it's a dandy little small-gig rig for not much money. Larger than most of the alternatives in its class, but ironically, it's actually lighter...

Yes, I do. It handles the low end great. Basically the speaker matches the power well, so it is fine within the limits of a 100 watt 1x12 super light combo.

I use a generally use a preamp with it, but if you play electric and double you can match levels using the distortion switch/level for electric to get by without if need be.

I have tried the 500 combo and truthfully I liked the 100 better. It sounded basically the same but I liked the way the 12" speakers responded vs. the 2x10" speakers in the 500.

PS. As Steve mentioned, I cut the low end (bass) to about 11am and keep the rest pretty much flat when using the upright.

Lately, a cool setting with my electric has been boosting bass to about 330 and cutting low mids to about 8am. Then a bit of high mids 1pm with treble at noon. Thump and still mixes well.

Anybody have a gain setting on the 500 combo that they use for a vintage Fender Jazz? I'm still experimenting & since no clip light I have to listen hard. It hasn't been a problem & seems to get crazy loud & clean! I know every instrument is different but just looking for some input (pun intended)!

Good evening Gentlemen Bassists,

Got a couple of questions for you all.
I'm looking at purchasing 3 or 4 of the Rumble 115 cabinets since they are much lighter than what I currently have.
It would be nice if there were a 2x10 rumble cabinet as well but those don't exist currently.
I figure it's easier handling and stacking the 115's at 39 lbs each.
I have a Carvin B1000 monoamp to use for the cabinets.
Does anyone know if the B115 cabinets are ported?
Does anyone currently use 2 or 3 of the 115's stacked?

Question regarding the speakers:

I have seen somewhere here that the Rumble series transducers are not available as spare parts?
If they are custom design, it seems very strange that Fender will not offer an obvious "wear and tear" item as spare part?

Could anyone confirm this?
I talked to Fender about a different parts issue and here is what I found out. The parts are available, but only through an authorized service center. They are trying to prevent people from upper end parts to mod with. I wanted a set up pickups for an American P to put in my Squier project bass. They flattly refused.

Tonight I take my new Rumble 500 to band practice for the first time. I was all pumped for last week, but the BL texted and said acoustic only and vocal practice. I have been praciticng with it it it sounds great. Love that vintange button. I have played every bass I have through it and they all sound good. The only thing I haven't put throuhg it is a P, but that will be tonight. The BL has a P that I play occassionally and the only P I currently own is a Squire, or at least the parts for a Squire P. Just got that for $55.00 and disassembled it. The crappy little Behringer 1800 (180 watts) I was using for practice weighs almost 20 lbs more than the Rumble.

Cool! Makes sure to report back after the rehearsal to let us know how things sounded.

Lync, thanks for your input. Most small cabs I've tried seem to fart out quite quickly with the upright, so I'm glad to hear the rumble can handle it.

Steve, I found your thread after asking the question here, some really great info in your thread, thanks for sharing! I'm gonna go and give it a try this week, If I do pick it up, I'll definitely try some of the mods, they seem very simple to do and easily reversible.

Don't know if someone play guitar also,a little out of topic, but i have a lot of love with the new V2 series of the Fender Mustang. The Mustang V v2.What an amp.Fender make a good amps with very nice prices for bass and guitar.

Vanilla Fudge, no wait maybe it's Vanilla Thunder that bought a pair of Rumble 115's to use under his GK 500 head. He loves 'em! Yes, they are ported.
