Fender Rumble Club

I got my Rumble 500 head and 210 cab yesterday! I'm already in love. The tone, the variety of tone, the fact that it's almost too loud at even it's quietest levels for home use, being able to just set up the head on my desk for nighttime jams/recording, and I can't forget how damn good it looks.

I'm looking forward to hearing it Thursday at practice when I can get those speakers actually moving.

And because TalkBass was so instrumental in helping me choose the Rumble I thought I'd join up and ask to join the club! :) ...and I want to show off my new amp...
Welcome Rumbler #912! Sorry for the delay. I need to post to admin, I have this thread on watch and I'm not getting all the notifications. But while I'm dealing with that, Rumble on!

I have! It's part of what really pushed me towards the head and cab instead of the combo. The cab lives at the drummers house, the head comes home with me.:)

Honestly I'm just GASing for everything right now. I just had this moment a couple weeks ago where I said I needed a new amp. Suddenly I'm ordering pedals, drooling over the idea of a 5 string jazz, thinking about a good home amp, looking into recording equipment...

To be fair to my wallet though I only allow myself one big spend on music gear a year. So I'll have a while to think about it.
This is why God gave us credit cards.

I'm sure we've all noticed that when a band "guests" on a talk show, there's almost always an SVT for the bassist-most likely a rental. Wonder when the stage hands are gonna say "make it a Rumble(or two).they're lighter and have more tone(s)"
I thought thats why Fender invented the TV Bassman. I know, bad joke. I couldn't help myself. That's what Fender Fridays are for.:hyper:

Got to try out the Rumble with the band. Holy cow! Not only do I love it, but the guys do too!

Gain was maxed, volume was at about 8 o'clock. Easily kept up with everyone. The more interesting bit is what it did to the sound of the whole band. Everything was more clear.

The kick drum had definition and presence, the guitar was far more articulate, the snare cut through, vocals were actually audible and the PA didn't scream at us at all, and most importantly I could hear every note on my bass from low Bb to the highest C and even my chorus/fuzz/and the Rumbles incredible OD were audible.

I had no idea a good amp could make that big a difference to the other instruments. So glad I sold my GK MB112. I don't know how but that thing managed to ruin everyone's sound.

The only "issue" is the Rumble 500H is way too loud for home use. I guess that means I'll have to pick up a Studio 40 in the future. Oh darn.;)
Yeah... That's why I own 3, a 500, a 100, and a 25.
Two weeks ago I took my 100 to a sing-a-long they do every Thursday evening at the Union Gospel Mission. It is in the main chapel which I think holds a couple of hundred people. It was way too much. I had the gain and master at 7 and still had to turn the bass down and play lightly. I was playing with 3 acoustic guitars, a mandolin, a flute, and a cajon. Last night, I took my 25, put it on a kickback stand and set the volume at 12 and it was perfect.
So, the moral of my store is two may not be enough. (you are welcome to share this post with your wife if you need further justification.

....meanwhile Ampeg gets handed off to yet another owner:
Yamaha Announces Acquisition of Ampeg
Rumble On...
That is a big, big step up in this old world for Ampeg. Yamaha is a well respected company. My backup bass is a Yamaha. I hope the new ones have a Yamaha Logo somewhere on them to set them apart. Fender will always need Ampeg around just for good competition. In every beauty contest there needs to be a runner up.

I've said b4, I Liked my SVT/8x10s, but it never seemed to get the lows I wanted(yes the "ultra low"switch was "on"). Maybe if it had been through a couple of 15s, but it came as a package.

And I have always said the B100 Rocket was the best amp they ever made. It weighs a ton, but it sounds a lot like my Rumble 200. If they made the same amp but light like the Rumbles, they would finally have a winner. Still wouldn't buy one. All I need is the 15, 100, and 200 Rumbles I have.

Thank you! No worries on the delay, stuff happens.

That's impressive that the 25 could hang in with any band, even if it is a pretty quiet one!

I feel like 2 Rumbles would be enough for me. I'd be more likely to put the 500H on a 112 for smaller situations then buy a 100/200 combo. I imagine the Studio 40 could fill the gap in below that.

Indeed. That's how I'm getting a Spectracomp and Sub 'N' Up.:bassist: I think spending ~$1500 CAD on the rig is enough for now though. No need to add $600 for a Studio 40, yet. ;)
