Fender Rumble Club

Good morning. On advice from the cats over at the Amp and Cab section, I would like to request admission to your operation. I just picked up this rig last night:

This is the rig I keep at my Mom's house in Iowa, so I have something to mess with when I go back.

Thanks!

Need some advice; playing my 79 jazz 4 string w/ my new rumble 200 @ practice is great. Did it’s first live gig last weekend and I couldn’t cut through the mix. Hi mids were mushy. I fiddled with amp eq, gain, master, as well as maxing my bridge p/u. Still no punch. So I pulled out my ESP active 5 string and BOOM the rig took off.
Yes you do. What this tells me is your gain structure is whack. Check out the Rumble Talks. Fender Rumbles have tons of mids and especially high mids so sharp as to put Vlad the Impaler to shame.

What was the limit? Inquiring minds, and all, you know.

Well... I'll tell ya  for my metal project, I play a Schecter riot 5 string, 18v, hot emg pickups, Ash/Maple, .145 low b, really aggressive tone. I run that into a sure wireless, the pedal board one. From there it goes into an mxr 85 bass distortion, then to the amp, where the OD circuit lives. Effects loop is danelectro 18v cool cat chorus, into broughton hpf/lpf, into earthshaker devices ghost echo reverb.

Even with the hpf, my hammering on the .145 low b string with all that boost to the signal from the various effects... Those 2 10's, impressive as they are, can't keep up and it was Fart City. I could get it to mellow out, but in doing so would either lose my preferred tone in an unacceptable manner, or wouldn't have the volume to use it as a monitor with the 5 piece metal band I'm in.

I just need more headroom, and had the ampeg 4x10 laying around. For gigs I'll pick up the matching rumble 2x10.:bassist:

Try putting the H/LPF first.

Or adding the Bro-ton always-on HPF first if your using the H/LPF to control the effects.

Yeah, 4x10 vertical stack should work. I don't think you're moving enough air with just the 2x10.

Is that a fretless P? If so, how do you like it?
