You are going to have to custom build your own presets. Just dive right in. Tone sculpt what you need. You've got 200 slots, so get to work. ;)

As others stated, make sure you aren't using the "contour" switch, this will kill your mids and presence in the mix. The Ray's can be a bit finicky in a live mix sometimes (sorry Ray owners, don't crucify me) as well, do you have a P or PJ you can try at a gig?

I run the exact same setup as you, 500c with 2x10 extension and my Yamaha PJ and Sire Jazz both are clearly heard with volume rarely past half-way. The Ray I've used gets loud but lost.

  4. Ok so that preset I made sounded quite good but I couldn’t get that almost nasally dookie sound on when I come around so I went searching through the amps to see what was up. I found that preset 22 with a little tiny eq change and a very small amount of tone rolled back on my p bass (1/4 turn) captures that eras sound very good. The other preset I also found overdrived too much when pushed to loud volumes but I still liked the tone at bedroom level.

My little Rumble 100 got some studio action today. This has been such a great little amp for me. I've yet to find myself really wanting any more amp.

Could you ask the studio for a guitar stand?

I hooked up the SWR to the Rumble 12 stand alone cab. I was presently surprised at the tone. Eq pretty much flat. It sounded great nice punch and low end. I know I have something to use if I get in a pinch. Was playing my mim 95 jazz with LaBella low tension flats.

If it's laying on the floor it can't fall onto the floor.

I started looking for XLR cables and found a whole boatload of different options. Any suggestions on quality, brand, length, configuration, and quantity to get me through different situations?

ProCo is my favorite. Just get straight connectors, in a length you are going to need to reach the board or snake. Not too long so you don't have a lot of excess cable. 15-20' is most common.

By straight connectors do you mean male/female without the right angle plug? Are they always male/female when plugging into mixers or pa's? 20ft enough to reach in most situations? Is it worth getting more expensive cables?
