Hard to believe that after six months I might have enough skill to play in a band. Biggest worry for me is figuring out how to learn a set list of songs, retain it, and pay for the new amps and equipment I'll need. The Studio 40 I just got probably isn't enough.
If the band has a free XLR in on the PA just run the Studio into it, you can do the same for shows too. Chances are you'll just need an XLR cable and some strap locks and you'll be good to go. You may also be able to work out being able to use a house rig or another bassists rig. I did this in the early days. Sometimes it's awesome, sometimes it's lame, but setup and tear down is amazing. lol
With regards to the songs I'd try not to worry too much. I've found lots of bands change bits and peices to fit things better. If you've gotta simplify some stuff people aren't likely to mind. So long as you're on time and in tune they'll likely be happy to have you!
