Has anyone here used the EHX Q-tron and Zoom MS60b/B3? I'm debating between the 60b as envelope only or a Q-tron.
So far my pedalboard is shaping up to be Q-tron/Zoom>Sub'n Up>Spectracomp>Big Muff>Rumble>Orbital Mod>Pulsar Tremolo>Canyon>Rumble I just can't seem to find anything about the Zoom vs Q.

Well, things did not go exactly as planned, but I would still call it a success!
I was supposed to pick up a R500 head as well, but the pot on the master volume was scratchy.
That’s okay because I really wanted the 200h anyway. That’ll be my project for later this fall. That and fixing or replacing the Fender badge on one of these. Does anyone know where these can be bought?
So I ended up with two 115s and the cables to plug them in.
The pics I shot are a little yellow. I’ll reshoot them later.
Can we see this rig? It sounds about as close to perfection as one can get.

No worries it was worth the wait. That's a beautiful bass you've got there!
I let go of my Q, and about to let go of my Big Muff, as I'm using the B3n now (also have the MS60b that I was using with the EH stuff). It does a great job, and after spending an hour or so in it, it's easy and almost fun to build chains. Sounds pretty great through my 500c!
Interesting! Was it the B3n/60b that caused you to let go of the Q or something else?
I've already heard the 60b's big muff model and I don't like it compared to the original. From the demo I heard it lacked depth, didn't blend as well, and was harsh on the top end on the 60b.

I believe so. The luthier who looked it over and set it up said it is an excellent example of Fender craftsmanship. It's an active bass. The only one I own active. Not a lot of active P basses around that I've seen.Wow, sounds like you got a pretty good deal then! So that's a stock bass then?
82 would have been very new for actives too. Is the preamp more like the Stingray of the time? Or is it more like a modern boost/cut system?
Fender has made active P basses for a long time now but usually only 1 MIM and 1 MIA model, which is the Deluxe and Elite now IIRC. The old American Deluxe was really really nice. Considering the Elite costs $1000 CAD more then that Deluxe did 5 years ago I really wish I could have bought it.
I wasn't totally sold at first, but when I started digging and playing with settings in the B3n, I started getting some pretty cool sounds. Are they exactly like the original? Nope. But with the original, I can't have two or three versions of the same pedal ready to go, and you can't beat the convenience!
Good way of looking at it. I do quite like the B3n, my problem is my signal chain and the bits I don't want to get rid of.
If I pulled my Orbital Mod from the chain I could fit a B3n on my board. I'd have to use the B3n as an effects loop only pedal though as I want my Rumbles OD (I use it a lot) in front of modulations and delays.
But then I'd still need an envelope filter, and then I'd go from half my board being EHX to half it being Zoom.
I am leaning a bit more towards the ms-60b over the Q-tron.
I have to admit I don't really know a whole lot about the history.
I read a little about it when the guy at Mat Music here in Alaska told me it was a great find but regarding electronics, I know almost nothing about history.
I know from being old that the more bells and whistles a car has, the more problems. I assume the same may hold true for basses. I only have one active bass and it happens to be my favorite but I have 5 other American basses all of which are passive. I haven't had a lot of problems with the P bass, but sometimes it sounds a bit scratchy when I hit the switch just right. I'll probably take it in for a tune up just in case.
At any rate, I'm gonna do some history searching so as not to look like a total fool when asked about a bass I own.

I wouldn't know if basses are like that, the only old one I've owned was an early 70s El Degas P bass. Which was passive, simple, and had multiple issues. What's nice about that though is I took a bass that hadn't been played in over 10 years with stickers and greened strings and turned it into this:
In the end I made no money, but lost nothing and had 4 years of enjoying the bass. But after 4 years I realized I wasn't going to finish it, and if it spent another 4 years untouched that neck would have been done. Which would have meant a custom neck or finding someone to route the pocket. No thanks.
Oh and no need to worry about knowing the history and stuff of your gear! The best musicians I know know the least about their gear. Unlike me I guess they spend most of their music time playing, and I have a feeling I look at basses more then I play em.

That's a really nice collection there! The burst Jazz would look cool with tort too. IMO it's the best choice for 2/3 tone bursts like that. I'm partial to tort guard though. Not on everything but they work so well with bursts and rosewood boards.

I may just call Fender and ask if a tortoise shell guard is available for purchase.
Never even thought of it before but I would definitely like it more than boring white!
