I've always been a tube, big amp kind of gent until this year...
The singer of the band I'm playing with has a Rumble 200 combo and I was shocked by it.
So, goodbye big rigs and hello Rumble.

Compared to all of the other rigs I've owned (plenty of Blueline and Blackline SVT's, newer Ampeg rigs, Aguilar etc.) this combo kills on so many levels.
I can travel with it in my 2 seater, I don't need help moving it, and most importantly, it sounds incredible.

Last night I played with the same acoustic guitarist as last week. Last week I had the OD on by accident and liked it but this week I though I would try it without.

I had to back off the bass a fair bit, although to be honest, I am not looking for deep bass with this guy, more lower mids/mids to fill in the space left by the single acoustic.

I ended up taking the Mikro again (I was still too lazy to go grab a bag for another bass) and played with the P pup only. The sound was great.

Next week we agreed I would take the 5er (with a high C) so I'll have to get a gig bag out

I have been having some on-going discussions with Fender's amp designer extraordinare, Dave Lewis, and I wanted to pass along an interesting tidbit. Apparently, some folks have tried to use the Mustang GT Firmware Patch Utility to update their Stage and Studio amps. This is not the intended use of that utility tool. For the Stage/Studio amps, firmware updates are only available with WiFi, and the Fender CR support team is available to resolve any issues that may come up regarding firmware updates.

so I've got the rumble 150 now, and am happy with it, but I do have 2 questions that maybe you all can help me with

1> at high volume certain notes cause a lot of rattle/vibration from the front grill cover... I'm thinking using a bit of high density foam and tightening that down between the face and the cover - any thoughts?

2> I'm thinking about adding a single handle to the center of the top to allow one-handed carry - anybody done this and had good or bad experience with it?

Re:#1-Have you tried just tightening the 6 screws that in front that hold the screen in place. Behind them are "rubber" spacers that tend to shrink a little with age.

Re:#2-The right single handle should hold the weight, its not as heavy as my Twin Reverb and that is what Fender put on it. The problem I see is that you would have to make sure the connecting bolts don't touch any of the electronics underneath. Also, ant screws or bolts going into the top would interfere with the amp module sliding out or back in.

Personally, I don't like the spring loaded handles; I prefer the fixed ones that come on Rumble and Bassman cabinets but even if I could get the parts, I don't know if it would be worth the effort to change them.

This is what the inside of your R150 combo amp unit looks like when you slide it out after removing the 4 black screws on top.

Even if you figure out how to do it, I don't think you want any screws or bolts sticking down in there-just my untrained opinion.

You pretty much saved me the trouble of typing out the same response almost verbatim! I will just add that I, personally, wouldn’t even want a top handle on an amp that bulky and heavy to begin with.

Thanks for the input guys - I don't mind lugging it around with one handle, but it does look pretty tight in there . guess I'll skip that idea

as for the front screws - there is no rubber gasket on these (neither between the screw head and the cover, nor between the cover and the face) - maybe I'll just fit some regular rubber gaskets on there and see if it works

This is a close up of one of the face screws; you can see the wide "washer" on the other side of the grill. Possible prior owner removed them?

My previous post wasn't entirely correct, because I forgot about what O/D does to the frequency response.
Here is a graph of what happens when you press Drive:

This is what the controls on a Rumble look like for a flat response.

I'd forgotten about this until I kicked on Drive on my mine just a bit ago & was a little surprised at the change in timbre between Gain dimed & Gain & Drive at noon.
So, you can expect a bump in the low mids & the high & low end to get tapered off.

That's with the Drive at only 8 o'clock, as per the original poster of the graph:

(and yes, precious owner probably removed them for some crazy reason that seemed to make sense at the time lol. that's the only issue I've found with the unit though so I am quite happy

Some of us just aren’t that smart no matter how hard we try!
By the way, this setup has been making me happy lately:

One funny thing that I discovered:
I was trying the setup without the M-81 to see how simple I could get things.
The irony is that I thought I’d use the M-81 for the DI and use the Rumble rig for tone. After experimentation, I really like the M-81 for the preamp and sound shaping, but also like the R350 head for that. I think I’ll use all of these parts, but run the DI out of the head.
So the setup is Fender AmPro P5 to Dunlop MXR M-81 to Fender Rumble 350 head to one or two Fender Rumble 115s.
Here’s the magic box that I almost left out of the mix:

...and nobody hate me for this, but I AM considering trading my two 115 cabs for two Rumble 112 cabs.

May I ask why? I was wanting to get 2 rumble 112 cabs, but was considering 2 115’s instead since the 112’s are discontinued.

OK, here's a thought-if ya still wanna do it. Go backwards-with the screw heads (maybe countersunk?)inside the cab. They wouldn't stick down as far. Once you got the proper length you could cut off the excess and smooth it out.

Not just you, @Aaron Houts, but for all the questions that appeared when I first posted the Photoshopped Rumble Stage 800 head!

And if you even think you want two Rumble 112 cabs, you better get to shopping 'cause they're drying up since being discontinued!
