What about the 2x10 ? is simply one 2x10 enough to keep up with a full band ensemble?

I have a 2/10 combo. I havnt had a problem with volume in a four peice band however its only pushing 350 watts with the two tens.
I added a rumble 15 to move a bit more air and to use the full 500 watts.
I like it better

I have a combo 200 (1-15) and a separate 1-15 cab. They sound great! Some prefer two, 2-10's. Others like 2-10's and 1-15. If I were you, I would take your bass and head and A, B, C those options at a local shop.

2 2x10s or a 2x10 and a 1x15 would sound better than 2 1x15s but that's just MY opinion. you know your going to want the full 500w out of that head so just buy whatever combination of cabs makes your ears happy, no such thing as overkill.. but that's just my opinion too.

Are the dimensions for 2x10 and 1x15 the same? I'd like to potentially stack them.

i played for years with 2 2x15s and could never get good response from that size speaker, when i would play fast it sounded like the speakers couldn't keep up, it didn't sound precise at loud levels, but the 10s i use now are very snappy and have nice deep lows with crisp mids and highs i could never get from the 15s, but probably a 1x15 and a 2x10 would be a good combination of both worlds, i couldn't say, im very satisfied with my rig as is, go check some out, see what sounds good to YOU..

Did you ever try the Rumble 115s X2? Cab and speaker design matter a lot, as you know. I like the Rumble 115s quite a bit.

no i haven't, there's allot of speakers out there i have not tried. the cabs i used to have were ported ampegs, 2x15 ampegs in one cab and 2x15 EVs in the other. i like rumble as well, and i'm sure speaker design and technology has improved since i ran the 15s, that's why i bought the setup i have now, i just prefer the tight response of a 10. i don't think anyone should go out and purchase anything just because someone recommended a specific product or "sound" that was best, that's up to the buyer to make that decision. best you can do is try to point them in a direction and let them decide.. i would like to try out the cab you mentioned though. i like to push amps to the limit in guitar stores.. that's the kinda guy i am

Not at all it gives you options. Even if you take both cabs and see you only need one, yer good.
